Hello there,

Im planning to withdraw my refugee claim and from what i read on these forums I will have 30 days to depart the country after I get withdrawal confirmation. My question is can I still work till the day I leave the country which will be within the 30 days?
Thank you

The moment you withdraw the claim, the removal order will be in effect. That means your work permit becomes invalid and your countdown to one month will start. So technically, you will be illegal to work with the same work permit.

Thanks for the elaboration, plus his work permit does not confer temporary resident status. it was issued primarily after claiming asylum. withdrawing means removal order is in effect... How someone expect to withdraw and think can work until last day he/she boards flight

Do not withdraw the application if you are going to be sponsored through spousal sponsorship. This puts you in removal status and no you cannot work. You need to keep the refugee application active while you apply for spousal sponsorship in parallel.

Only withdraw that application if you are sure to exit the country right away. If you do, IRCC is going to dump any other application you submit, and they will be premised on your true intentions.

These are some of the policies they are trying to implement at the moment. Soon, they are going to stop individuals that come in as students then declare assylum, and that will be bad for so many people. So, leave that application to run as it is, and apply for any other application you feel you are qualified for.

Alternatively, seek legal advice.
