1) Yes.
2) You should not need another medical.
3) You have to wait until you have a valid work permit again to renew your SIN.
4) I believe you can but wait for others to comment and confirm.
5) It can take 2 years. It's ultimately your choice if you use a lawyer or not and can depend on the complexity of your case. Plenty of people here have done it without a lawyer and plenty have done it with a lawyer.
6) I would recommend you search for "legal aid" and your city.

If you don’t have a work permit , you won’t be eligible for EI

You must be ABLE to apply for jobs on an EI claim. If you don’t have a work permit , you aren’t able .
Plus your last work permit expired , so just from that you’re not eligible . It wasn’t due to a shortage of work

If you claim EI it’ll just be sent to manual processing. It’s as simple as putting in your SIN to see when your pgwp expired

Your SIN starts with a “ 9 “ it’ll AUTOMATICALLY be sent for a review
