Has any one applied asylum in Calgary in 2023-2024, I’m curious to the the timeline in Calgary.
Hi , I think you can apply anywhere in the western provinces and get a hearing within about a year or so. I recommend Alberta as rent is cheaper and if you need a shelter, you can get one either in Calgary or Edmonton Alberta.

Hi, May I ask whether you have submitted your PR application after your case was approved? Did you apply for Travel Document first before applying for PR? What is the estimate time of PR Processing? Thanks.
I did apply PR application in July and I didn't apply for Travel Document. I don't know how long it will take for PR application.

Here is my timeline:

PR application - June 18 2024
AOR - September 05 2024
Biometrics request- September 05 2024
Biometrics Done - September 10 2024

Thanks for sharing information. Would it be easy to get a job in Edmonton, while winters are coming in Alberta. Or should I move to Ontario after filling asylum application in Edmonton?

If you move to Ontario after submitting for asylum, it would then be moved to Ontario. I am not 100% sure but I think Edmonton or Calgary is easier for work too.

Your case doesn't automatically get moved between offices if you move unless you specifically request it.

Hi, my work permit is going to expire in March 2023 while awaiting for the a decision on my case. Is it too early to apply for WP extension? Or I should be gathering information and/or completing the online application? Can anyone suggest a link?

Hello. My case was regarded as less complex back in February 2024. In August I received a notice to appear for hearing scheduled in November 2024. During this time, I never received a letter stating that my case is no longer being considered as less complex nor the hearing notice specifies the type of hearing (regular/short). While I understand that it is not uncommon to have a hearing scheduled even if the case is regarded as less complex, I am wondering that if they have not EXPLICITLY stated that my case is no longer considered a less complex the hearing is likely to be the short one?
Wondering if anyone have/had a similar situation and how did it actually play out? Thank you

I ask you question do you claim at air port or could you please how many days after landing you claim?

Entry: March 2023
Claim submitted: April 2023
WP & Brown Paper: April 2023
Disclosure ICAC: July 2023 (File Review in Chamber decision)
Hearing scheduled: January 23rd 2025
I am in confusion as I did not get a notification directly from IRB. My former lawyer sent me a simple message. Note that she had left me in July 2023 for the reason that I moved from Ontario to Quebec for job search. My lawyer wants me to pay her while my Ontario Legal Aid is still active. She also told me that my case is complex, which is the opposite to what is mentioned into the disclosure of documents by ICAC. In few words, do not know what to do.
