Unless you had a very large vacation that can be perceived as a gap in employment (6+ months in my opinion), you might have to mention that. None of the applicants I know had this mentioned in their letters - I don't believe any employer will mention this detail on the letterhead while giving a reference letter.Virab555 said:Another question, which I believe will be of interest to many. Should we mention the number of days we had for vacation, or no, and how it relates to calculating experience?
As per OINP only extended periods of leave (i.e., more than one month) should be mentioned in your reference letter.Virab555 said:Employers in my country give up to 24 business days vacation per year. Do you think it is much?
We have 20 paid holidays + 10 mandatory government holidays = 30 days. Extended periods of leave means a long and continuous leave. I am not aware of any employer who will mention about the employee's leave details on the reference letter .Virab555 said:Employers in my country give up to 24 business days vacation per year. This forum of experience letters is quite helpful! Thanks in advance for my query as well:
1. I prepared all my work-experience letters in Oct/Nov 2014, i.e. when I had applied under the FSWP program, however by the time my application reached the quota was already full. Now, while I will take an updated letter from my current company. Is it okay to submit experience letters dated Nov 2014 & earlier? As all the companies (count 4) I was working in, were before 2014, i.e. till 31st Dec 2013. - Yes, letters from past employers are valid indefinitely. Hope the letters cover all the required information!
2. Until Dec 2013, I had worked in 4 different companies (all based out of India), and have letters from all. In Jan 2014, I took a sabbatical, and traveled to UK, US, Canada. The longest haul being in the USA. Total travel duration was close to 5 months, and during this period I was unemployed. How do you suggest I show this part in the personal/employment history of past 10 years? Do you think it will create an issue? I was only employed again in Aug 2014 in DXB. So total unemployed gap would be 7 months. - No this will not create an issue as long as you meet the minimum one year requirement, you can mention this in the personal history section.
Look forward to your suggestions! Appreciate your support!
Regards,
If you need any more clarification, feel free to ask! Good luck and all the very best!svg_dxb said:Dear Stanlee & Raj,

The general understanding is that the reference letters from your current employer is considered valid for one year by IRCC and the reference letters from previous employers are valid indefinitely.

This is not an issue. Retain only the jobs that you are claiming points for in the work history section. For the ones you are not claiming points for, retain those jobs only in the personal history section. You can mention this period as "Unemployed" and the activity as "traveling". Unemployment periods will not have any impact on your PR application, IMO. You just need to declare all this properly in your application, that's all!
