Hi All,

I have a few questions with regards to the maximum points the primary applicant can claim under Foreign Work Experience. I have 10 years of experience in IT industry in India. Below listed are my queries:

1. As per what I have read, we can claim the maximum points for 3 years of Foreign Work Experience. Please correct me if I am wrong. I read somewhere we need around 6 years to be eligible. This has got me confused.

2. Based on point no.1, do I need to list down all the employment history while creating my express entry profile or just mention for the maximum years for which I need to claim the points?

3. Also, there are multiple opinions that say that reference letters for all the work history would be needed. Should'nt the reference letters be only provided for work history for which the points are being claimed? For example, if I can claim max points till 3 years then I would just need the reference letters for these 3 years right?

Any help on the above is appreciated.

1. To qualify for FSW, you only need one year of continuous, full time experience

2. You can just link the experience that gives you max points.

3. You are correct. Reference letters are only needed for the work experience you are claiming points for.

1. 1 year of continuous full time paid experience to be eligible for express entry. And 3 yrs will get you maximum points.

But, you also also have to be eligible under the six selection factors. And you need a minimum of 67 points to be eligible. So if you've claimed points for 4,5, or 6 yrs to meet the 67 points requirement under six selection factors, then you'll have to show the same number of yrs in your express entry profile. They're both tied together. I hope this makes sense.

2. Just mention for the maximum years for which you need to claim the points. But, like I said, if you claimed points for more than 3 yrs, say 4-5 yrs to meet the 67 points requirement under the six selection factors then you'll have to mention those many yrs under express entry otherwise your profile will be ineligible.

3. Correct, you need reference letters only for the work experience you're claiming points for.

Congrats for surviving 10 yrs in the IT industry Pritesh :D
- it’s 3 years max
- work history has to be mentioned for which you are claiming points. Rest of the activities move to personal history/activities section
- yes that’s correct.
But if you can get reference letters from previous employers where you have worked for the remaining years (if it is not a major hassle) just keep in your file...

Thanks everyone for your response !!! Really appreciate all the members are helping each other !!! You guys are the best consultants :D:)

Thanks....Still I am wondering what am I doing in IT industry :p
Just one more question.....its a dilemma. Lets say, while creating express entry profile I provide the work experience for all the 10 years. Post that, just being too optimistic :-) , if I get an ITA, then will CIC expect me to provide the reference letter for all the years or will it be 3(for claiming max crs score) or 6 years(for express entry eligibility)? I am already contacting past organisations, but no one is even responding back. So the only route is to get letters from seniors notarized and attach other supporting documents.

I hope you understand my situation, getting reference letters especially from various IT MNCs is a big challenge. I have just given my IELTS on 30th June,WES for both me and my wife are due by mid July. Hopefully, I can get through before my bday on 28th Agust, or I will be lossing another 5 points :(

Bhai tu pehle tension lena band kar and relax... think from a clear head....

You are not hiding the work experience info.. you are shifting the work experience info (for which you cannot claim points) to your personal activities/history section...
First they will not ask, worst case scenario(tumhara naseeb) if they do and you don't have then remember to use Sandeep Mishra's example ;) https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-p...-for-a-Canada-PR-after-getting-the-invitation

Thanks bhai....

I gave the work ex between 2 to 3 years and it still says that I am eligible for express entry. It is not showing any points.

Then go with three yrs and put the rest in personal history. You only have to provide letters and documents for 3 yrs.

Hi Experts,

My reference letter does not conatin working hours and when I spoke to my organisation, they are saying "full time bonfaide employee" which they have mentioned in the refrence letter should cover that. In my pay slips also working hours is not mentined.

Will this reference letter be sufficient?

It should be fine, but if they can make an exception and mention the work hours per week will be just perfect... don’t leave anything at chance for case office to suspect your documentation.

Pay slips are ok they do not need to cover working hours
