Hello, appreciate any experience or advice anyone has to give. I am Canadian and I am sponsoring my wife from Japan (Family Class, outside Canada) we submitted our application in middle of October and received our first email from CIO Sydney office saying "in order to continue processing your Application for Permanent Residence in Canada, we require an updated original Police Certificate...." and naming my wife as the individual they require it for.
However, what has us confused is we obtained her police certificate in Japan in September, 2024, less than one month before submitting our application. Why would they require an updated one, was there something wrong with the one we submitted and will it just cause the same problem if we submit another one?
We had to open the sealed letter from Japanese police station to scan the certificate into the online application, from our research this was fine. Do we need to send physical original copy unopened to the IRCC?
We are in a bit of a panic, as I am in Canada now, and my wife has a flight booked back to Canada December 7th so our time is very limited for her to do necessary things in Japan. Thanks greatly for anyones time
