Hi Guys,

My wife's passport just got stained by tea. The laminated pages (with details and photo) are intact but the stain seeped through some pages mainly on the edges. The PCC page is intact but stained on the edge. There is also a page with US visa that got stained on the edge but no harm to the details and photo.

Do you think we have a chance with this passport?

We will get it checked by passport office tomorrow. If it is considered damaged then do we need to do everything again?

If in case you will have to get a new passport made, then don't worry. You can update her new passport details when you proceed with filing post ITA application. I also had to get a new passport made after ITA.

It's better to get a new passport rather than go with the fear of being refused entry if they say the passport has been defaced.

Thanks for the replies.
Hey mvd,
In case we apply for a new passport does she need to do IELTS and PCC again? Did you retake these when you got your new passport

It sounds to me as though you are an Indian national. If so, you can staple the old stained passport to the new one.

Yup. Indian national. :)

I just want to confirm if she needs to give IELTS again as it has the current passport no. We will definitely attach it in case we need to get a new one. I am just concerned about IELTS since the certificate mentions passport no. and PCC stamp which is applied on the old passport.

I hope that it wouldnt be an issue

Not required. Whatever was valid on the previous passport continues to be valid on the new passport.
