Did you provide T4s and NOAs? I cant seem to figure out why your application was rejected--it seems to me you are qualified. Did your letter specifically outline hours worked or did it just have the "average"? Did your letter specify that it was"full time" or "part time" work?

On the bright side (dare i say), at least you didnt wait 9-10 months for a rejection, most rejected people are left in limbo for a long time. You can regroup and reapply soon. Wishing you all the best!
I did send them my 2012 T4 and NOA. Reference letter stated that I'm a part timer, but it also listed both total hours worked and my weekly average.

As for regrouping.. I guess in a way it's good, but now I'll have to pay another $550. :( What about my documents though? No one seems to have an answer. It takes some time to get police and birth certificates, and to request another original copy of my English test results. Would be nice if they sent those back.

In general, I don't think CIC sends documents back after an application has been processed. Do the seniors know of any case where CIC sent documents back?

Yeah unfortunately the documents are not returned:-( Document gathering is a pain, so is losing $550!

Still perturbed by this, it makes me very anxious that such a vital application is contingent on the administrative competence of the Officer processing the application. I just applied, i think i will have sleepless nights until i get the confirmation of eligibility email. sigh.

Keep us posted on your re-application and good luck!

As other members have noted, on the plus side, you got rejected immediately after receiving the AOR, and did not have to wait 8 - 9 months. Get the GCMS notes, and then reapply. Also, it wouldn't hurt to send them an email (or three), and point out that your part time work experience exceeds the criteria. It may have been a simple error by the VO, and maybe they'll take another look at it (it has happened before).

I'm actually quite surprised by the speed. Should we take this to mean something for other applicants?

How can I get in touch with them? AOR said that they're forwarding my application to CPP-O, while today's email came from Sydney.

whyyme. this new info is vital. If your "rejection" came from Sydney, it may not really be a rejection, but that your application was returned because it was deemed not to have met basic requirements by Sydney, therefore they did not see the need to put it in line for further processing? Am i wrong? don't "real rejections" usually come from the Visa Office designated for processing?

@whyyme how did you pay the $550 fee?

AOR means that they've checked all documents and on the surface everything looks OK. I got that email on the 3rd and then a week later (today) received a rejection email. Both from Sydney, so it does in fact look like they're also doing actual processing of applications.

First email was signed as follows:
NDM
Service Delivery Clerk
Citizenship and Immigration
Centralized Intake Office
Sydney, Nova Scotia

and today's email:

SJW
Program Support Officer
Immigration Section
Case Processing Centre
Sydney, Nova Scotia

I paid online by credit card.

Yeah, it looks like Sydney may be doing some processing. I just rechecked the "flow chart" from the Application guide, I seem to recall that there used to be a part that said "CIO will forward application to visa office requested on application". Now it just says "CIC will process...etc." I Hope this means things will move along faster for everyone, but not at the expense of competence!

This sentence in the rejection email doesn't make sense to me

Work experience with COMPANYNAME from 21 Dec 2011 to 19 Feb 2013 is for a period less than 12 months (28.21 hours per week).

21 Dec 2011 to 19 Feb 2013 is more than 12 months, isnt it?

whymeee said:
Yup, that happened. I don't know what to do at this point.. I've built a life here over the past three years and now I'll have to leave it all behind?

I am not satisfied that you meet the requirement(s) because You have not provided sufficient evidence of at least 12 months of work experience in Canada in occupation(s) at Skill Type O, or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) within the 36 months preceding the date of your application. Work experience with COMPANYNAME from 21 Dec 2011 to 19 Feb 2013 is for a period less than 12 months (28.21 hours per week).

Is my math way off? Requirement is having worked full time (or equivalent) for at least a year. That means.. 30 hours times 52 weeks = 1560 hour requirement.

21st Dec, 2011 - 19th Feb, 2013 is about 426 days. 426 days or 60.8 weeks. 60.8 weeks times 28.21 is 1694 hours. What's the problem here? My pay stubs say the same thing, yet I still got denied.

Are they going to return the application package or is it their property now?

Any suggestions for me? :(
