Hello,

My brother received a letter requesting additional documents. The letter shows as follows:
Please send a copy of biographical pages of your passport confirm your date of entry as year/date/day.

What I found the information concerning "biographical page' on CIC website is the following:
The biographical page means the page that has your name, photo, passport/travel document no., issue date and expiration date.

I believe that they need to check the date stamp when he entered into Canada not the biographical pages as he already sent copies of his two passports. (expired/current.) Am I understanding correctly? or should we send a copy of the first page of his current passport and the page showing the entry date (which is on his VISA pages)? Our passports contain a biographical page and 20 visa pages (for entry/departure stamps or visas).

It would be greatly appreciated if you share your experience.

Thank you!

Send exactly what they asked for even if you have sent them already.

I am about to send my application and I am confused as well. Do I just send the bio pages or does it have to include the entry stamps?

While I am not sure (of course), this appears it could be an application relying on credit for days in Canada prior to the date of landing. If so, that could be what CIC is really looking for.

I agree with the suggestion to send exactly what is requested, as best the applicant understands it. But the reference to confirming the date of entry suggests that is the focus of the request, so try to also include whatever is specifically responsive to that.

If, again, this is about a pre-landing period of time in Canada, what often happens is that CIC cannot confirm in their records that the applicant entered Canada on the date the applicant declared entry into Canada. (This can be a problem for some visa-exempt visitors, for example, if they are seeking credit for time in Canada as a visitor, if there is no stamp, no Visitor Record, no formal documentation to show the actual date of entry.)

If it is not a pre-landing credit case, as otherwise suggested, do one's best to responsively provide what is asked for. If unsure, including a copy of all pages in the passport containing stamps might be a good idea.

Follow the instructions as they are on the day you go to sign the application, including the checklist and the instructions in the guide.

The instructions change. They are what dictate should be included. Last I saw, no, only the biographical pages are requested with the application (more can be requested, such as what appears to be the case for the OP here). But what counts are the instructions in place as of the day the application is being signed and sent off.

So what would you send? What are they requesting?

The first page of the passport which shows all personal information referred as "Biographical Page" on CIC website? Or the stamp confirms the date of my brother's entry into Canada? They did not ask us to send both of them. I DO want to send what they exactly ask. But their wordings make confusion.

If the letter states that CIC wants to confirm entry dates, the biographical page of the passport won't supply that information. My suggestion is that your brother copy and send all the pages of his passport. I know there are people in this forum who caution against sending even one page of paper that hasn't been specifically requested, but this seems like a matter of common sense to me. If your brother does not satisfy CIC's request, the application will be delayed. If he sends copies of all the pages of his passport and CIC doesn't need them, it will cause no harm at all.

send biographical pages of all passports along with all visa and stamps pages and renewal pages to be on safe side.

How many passports does your brother hold for the past relevant 4 years? Was there a time when the passport got expired and was not renewed for few days/months etc?

I will follow your suggestion. The pages of all his passports would be more than 80 pages. Most of them are blank but have more than 5 visas attached and 50 stamped. And there is no gap between the expired one and the current one. And the thing is that he hasn't been out of Canada since he came to Canada and became permanent resident.

.

Okay, in that case whatever passports those have been held in past 4 years(falls in date range of 4 years) send photocopies of all pages. Its better to be safe. Also get it color photocopied else sometimes its hard to read. Best of luck!
