Hi all,
I hold a PGWP (valid upto 2017), but my TRV had expired. Since I was planning to visit India, I decided to renew my TRV. But Canadian authorities returned my passport stating that it is damaged, and I should submit a new passport to them. Although damage was only on already stamped and expired sheets (only 10% of them), but anyway I decided to get passport re-issued.
I am based in Calgary, so I have to contact Consulate General in Vancouver. Although there are some instructions on their website, but it is still ambiguous. And their required documents don't exactly match with documents required in case of CGI Toronto.
I have been frantically calling them from past two days to resolve some queries, but they neither pick the call or reply to email. I called BLS office, but they said that they don't deal in the case of damaged passports. Can anybody please share his experience on dealing in the case of a damaged/lost passport with CGI Vancouver.
I have some basic questions:
1. Do I need to apply in person ? Can it not be done through mail ?
2. What all documents are required ? It seems that a few of them needs to be notarized as well, but I need to be clear about the document first.
3. How much time does it take to get the new passport ?
