hi there, can anyone suggest me how can i immigrate to Canada? I did apply under skilled migrant category last year NOC 3152 they said my application reached after the 1000 applications so sent it back to me. After a long struggle for 5 months i received them...I read their Canada immigration website and it mentioned that at this stage they are not recruiting any more Registered Nurses. I want to apply as general migration category? is there anything like this...? is their any Canada immigration Agencies that can help...pls let me know with answers...thanks

You have some options:
1. Wait and see if ur occupation will still be in the new NOC to be released soon and apply
2.get a job offer (AEO), that way the cap won't affect you
3. or try Quebec if you have some proficiency in french
4. the Provincial nominee program, which also requires a job offer

From what I have read aboout consultants, I wouldn't recommend that pay huge sums of money to to one without doing your own homework (research, asking questions etc). Good luck

thanks for the reply. Its purely my bad luck i was interviewed in 2008 and was offered with a good job at Edmonton...when i was booking my tickets to go to Edmonton...the recession started and within days they stopped taking nurses on work visa...then i did IELTS and i got present temporary Nursing Registration of Alberta...but in vain ..when i applied for many many jobs they are saying that we need permanent residency to get the job...and when u applied for immigration they are saying that if u have job offer then they will process u r application without cap...sir, can u pls suggest any other way to apply for residency..

you said new NOC list will be out ...what is that when will it be out...? cause my understanding is u need to send u r application forms before June to be eligible for processing for the year for 2011-2012..if it is late again they will say that it is capped...i will wait for u r reply

thanks

There is a cap or a limit of 1,000 applicants for each NOC. They will all reset on July 1st. If you send your application before July 1st, your cap will still be full. You send after July 1st, you will hopefully be among the first 1000 people. The cap for nurses took a few months last year before it got full. I don't think it will already fill up in 1 or 2 months this year. The only question is if they change the list and take the nurses out.

If your job description mathces close enough to 3233 Licensed Practical Nurses you can also try under that NOC. Their cap is far from full right now, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp

I am a she....anyway, no one knows when the new NOC will be released. however there is speculation in this forum that it will be somewhere July. So I will urge you to frequently visit the CIC website for updates. Furthermore, the CIC website will give u all the info you need about immigrating and under what category. If you have family in Canada, you can also explore that route. In
your 'desperation' (for wants of a better word) to immigrate to Canada, don't give your hard earned cash to any consultant without researching yourself. The immigration process is strenuous, thus you need a lot of time to read and research. Good luck!

What Leon is saying is that ur profession as a Registered nurse is capped. The closest other NOC to ur profession is Licensed practical nurse, which is not yet capped, look at the duties under LPN 3233 as specified by the Ministerial Instruction and check if you have performed any of these duties. If you have u can apply as LPN. Hope this make sense.
http://www.canadavisa.com/new-instructions-federal-skilled-worker-applications.html

3233 - Licensed practical nurses:Licensed practical nurses perform some or all of the following duties:

Provide nursing services, within defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures
Perform nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensuring infection control, monitoring nutritional intake and conducting specimen collection
Administer medication and observe and document therapeutic effects
Provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care
Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy
Monitor patients' progress, evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and consult with appropriate members of healthcare team
Provide safety and health education to individuals and their families

Operating room technicians perform some or all of the following duties:

Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving and sterilizing the patients' operative areas
Assist in surgery by laying out instruments, setting up equipment, assisting surgical teams with gowns and gloves and passing instruments to surgeons
Clean and sterilize the operating room and instrument

SUSHMA NOMULA: They have a quota, only 1000 nurses every year.

When you applied last year, 1000 nurses had already applied so they said to you that they have enough nurses this year so you did not get in.

On July 1st, the quota goes back to 0. Maybe the list will change and nurses are not on it but nobody knows that. If you apply after July 1st and nurses are still on the list, you will get in.

Another option for you right now is if your job description is close enough to 3233 Licensed Practical Nurses you can apply as one of them now because their quota is not full for this year. You can see the job descripton for 3233 Licensed Practical Nurses here: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/noc/english/noc/2006/Profile.aspx?val=3&val1=3233

Hello Leon, your responses are so wonderful and burden lifting. I happen to fall victim of what SUSHMA NOMULA is passing through and i have seen your suggestions to her i.e applying under 3233 Licensed Practical Nurses, I was actually thinking of that as well but please, i hope it does not mean that one will have to work as Licensed Practical Nurses when i arrived canada. Can you confirm to me that applying under this 3233 is just for the purpose of migration and does not mean i will be limited/ force to work as Licensed Practical Nurse, this is because am at the verge of Registering as a Registered nurse in Alberta and what that means is that i will have to work as RN. The option you have provided is logical and am in love with it but these are my concerns hence i'll appreciate clarification from you or anyone. Thanking you in anticipation.

The NOC is just for your immigration. Once you are in Canada, you can work anywhere that will hire you. Should you feel that you want to change your career and embark on an apprenticeship as a plumber or a hairdresser, you may do that. Should you want to go back to university and study law, you may do that. Should you want to open a cafe, you may do that too.

Many thanks Leon for the swift response, that's fantastic. Another thing, my Job description suits that of the 3233 LPN which i read from the link provided here but what about my credentials and transcripts which will depict that i was educated as an RN, will this not pose a problem during my assessment by CIC or could it be that credential evaluation is not part of this immigration procedure?
