Dear All,

I am landing in Canada on 30th Oct 2015. have a query if someone could help:

we are husband & wife landing together & need to show around 15000K CAD as POF, is it ok if we could carry 3000K in cash & rest in travellers cheque??

and once we land their open a account in canadian bank & get the money transferred in that account?? hope travellers cheque could be deposited in Local canadian bank for clearance.

also from where to take the travel insurance / madical insurance as we wont be getting medical cards done till 3months after landing

Please advice

Cash and travellers cheques will be fine providing they are in CAD. Some of the Canadian banks will let you open an account before you land as well so that would be another option for you as you could transfer some of your money to your Canadian account. But you would need to show a bank statement for proof of funds.

For travel insurance / medical insurance I think that usually needs to be arranged in your home country (although others on here may know how to get it once in Canada). I am intending to get 3 travel insurance which includes medical insurance for my first 3-4 months, and i will arrange this before I fly out.

No, nothing is required from the tax authority in india while landing ..the only thing you need to make sure that you have are the passports,COPR and the POF.

For Ottawa it used to be 1-1.5 months from MR but no one has got PPR in Ottawa VO from the past 1 month ..so a lot of people are waiting for medical received and DM/PPR .
You can check out the CPCO Ottawa thread for FSW 2014 as all of us (applicants from US and Canada)keep each other updated there

Ya , they called my employer first ans within some seconds i got call. they inquired everything regarding job responsibilities, no. of staffs at office, their name, whether they are permanent or temporary. What kind of project do you have and asked to provide name and amount. Such tiny things they had asked me. Does my boss have brother or not.? if yes what is the name etc. How did you get this job? how many applicants were there? where is the office and what is the home address of my boss . No one can give correct answer of all question.
My boss told that he has a brother but i could not give that answer as i didn't know his brothers name. How could i list the name of all the employees? there are many employees and i don't know their names.
It s been more than two weeks that i got the call but i have not heard anything from VO.

Gorkhe
I am so sorry Sir I can't believe it
Thank you for sharing your experience
If they asked me about my boss brother :) it's not professional question and the answer should be its personal
I can't answer and even I don't know and I don't care
I can imagine they should or even can ask that question

Thanks Harry.

Its really helped me a lot.

God bless you.
