Finally landed in Canada (Toronto, Pearson airport) on 18th may 12:00 PM.

Procedure seems pretty straight forward.

1) Once you landed, you will proceed directly to the Immigration Center. They will check your Passport and Landing documents (COPR).

2) From there you will be forwarded to the newcomer section, where they will note down everything. It will take about 10-15 minutes. And also they will keep Copy of COPR (With Photo) and second copy will be attached to your passport for future reference. please keep this copy with you all the time as it will require for every single items.i.e SIN, Opening Bank account, Library card etc..I landed on Monday and it was holiday so i couldn't get SIN. Otherwise you will get your SIN only at airport. Also, officer will ask for the address where you are intended to stay. This is require for PR card.

3) Collect your luggage and at last they will ask you for any items to be followed. They didn't ask for B4 or any copy of that. But i have declared that i am carrying more than 10k CAD. So they just filled up one form and asked my son to stamp on it

That's it. And one more point, if you are carrying more luggage, Porter will be there to help you but they will charge you $22 for their service and also have to pay the tip to Porter. I though it was free service and i had to pay $22 + Tip

Second Day:

I went to the Service Canada center for applying SIN for all of us. They will ask for passport and Landing documents. Enter the ZIP Code where you are staying and you will get list of nearby Service Canada Center.

On the same day, i opened the bank account with couple of banks. There are few deals going on in TD and RBC bank but understand the terms and condition for proceeding further.

Third Day:

Went to the library and got the library card instantly. Also, got the new SIM Card. I have got Micromax mobile from India and it is compatible with Fido and Chatr and it's working like a charm. I have asked the person and he said Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 will work fine as well. I am not sure about other mobile phones. The plan that i buy is for unlimited talking across Canada, 1GB of Data. And it cost me about $50 per month. More plans listed below.

I am not sue everyone is aware about that but if you have a Child then please register at nearest center. So, you will get $500 Child Tax benefit every month. It will take about 2-3 months but money will be credited directly to your account. But once you get the job, amount will be decrease as well.

Got my third line update today "Medicals have been received" .....meds done 14th may.

Does this mean my medicals are clear? Thanks to everyone on this forum.....just waiting for my wife's PCC with her maiden name, will then send the documents.

I happy to inform that I got PPR today @ 12.20 PM SGT. Decision made is yet to appear in ECAS.
Below are my timelines. Thanks to everyone for making this one as wonderful journey.

App Sent: 09-Sep-14
App Received at CIO: 15-Sep-14
Cost Recovery (CC): 30-Nov-14
PER: 14-Dec-14
Second Line Update: 15-Feb-15 (Processing Started on 12-Feb-15)
MR, PCC & RPRF Request: 13-Mar-15
Medical Done: 17-Mar-15
Medical Results Uploaded: 21-Mar-15
Third Line Update: 25-Mar-15
Decision Made: Yet to Appear
PPR Request: 22-May-15

Total Time 8 months 7 days.

Note: During submission of PCC I requested for visa stamping at Singapore VO but they ask me to submit in NDVO. I confirmed with VFS Singapore that I can submit in SG itself.

Hi guys...

Two days ago on 21/5 i received an email from VO
They asked for
RPRF.. Work certificates for my current and previous work, work contract, updated cv for me and spouse, updated schedue A for me and they specified certain dates and what i was doing in them..

Today, 23/5 just right now i received Medical request for my spouse and i.. Although we still have not send the documents they asked for.. They gave us 60 days to srnd them..

Is that a good sign?

Hello Everyone
Got my visa and COPR just now. PP submitted on 14th May.

I got sms around 10 pm yesterday that my visa has been dispatched. Got it now. Bluedart service is too good.

Feeling so happy to have PR in my hand. Thanks god and all forums members.

Next challenge is to settle and find jobs. God bless.

Hi Friends,

I'm planning on landing at Toronto in July.
does anybody know if it is required to provide proof of residence when applying for SIN and medical card? e.g.:Electrical bill, or phone bill?
is it true that SIN can be issued at the airport directly after landing? If no, where shall i go to apply for those things in Toronto? most importantly, where can i find the information about this? can i get some brochure at the airport about this?

You need to send the PDF of the receipt as an attachment to HKVO via online enquiry, so that they will know that this payment is for you.

Perfectly normal...Now print the receipt and fill it with ur details including UCI # and ur DOB and Address..and if u wish in the Name Box below ur friend's name, u can add CLIENT NAME- <<Your name>>..They will connect the payment to ur file...

Send the filled receipt to the VO by whichever means they have asked for....(maybe scanned copy by email/ hard copy by courier)
