Thats not a true indication of things coming back. You cannot compare part time student jobs with full time jobs paying a good salary.
My friend works as a design engineer in Calgary, Alberta. He was not laid off but was asked to take temp leave for upto 40 days and was asked to come back by May 20.
Many of my friends in IT, HR, Banking, Digital Marketing, Medicine in Canada. None had issues. All of them are actively employed, have their payment on time.
What all of them tell to me is that the media is exaggerating to a large scale.
Maximum impact is for part-timers that desperately need their paychecks and they add up a large percentage to the joblessness. But to be honest, Canada is doing pretty pretty pretty good in all terms compared to other countries and that is one reason why dudes are loving to move there.
I have nearly 50 people (acquaintances) and none of them are having any problem.
Dudes that migrated from India especially are against immigration now and often highlight this "unemployment" tag to avert immigrants from the same nation.
By the way, Canada's economy is opening up day by day and slowly vacancies, joblessness, unemployment is plummeting.
