I never dreamed of coming to Canada (or even outside my home country, being from a middle class family). All was all sudden. I did my engineering in July 2012 and got job offer post completing my studies although pay wasn't good I though of joining that company but they had contract of 5 years which made me not to join that company. My elder brother completed his engineering with me as well however, he always though of pursuing studies from abroad. He did lot of research before coming to Canada about job market, suitable course for us, housing etc. At that time, I used to be busy in gaming (which I'm still crazy about. After all, who doesn't like COD or God of War)
We gave IELTS in October 2012 and applied for some courses in Ontario. Filed our student visa and got visa within a week. We came to Canada in April 2013 then we realized life isn't easy in any part of the world whether you are in your home country or anywhere else. Being from a middle class family, we never wasted to ask for financial help from our parents. We got some survival jobs which was basically minimum wage jobs paying $10/hr. We did everything, cleaning washrooms, working in bakeries, loading and unloading 1700 boxes of 30-40lbs a day etc. While doing survival jobs, me and my friend, we always used to talk that someday we will make good money too.
God helped as during this whole journey. I got scholarships so never got in a situation where we had to ask for help. Now I completed my studies last year. Got a good job ( a high paying job
That was my story. It all started with No planning at all and now I'm here so may be it was destiny who put me in the right place at right time and gave me the right opportunities

I would love to have a Canadian success story myself in couple of years...so far it was only waiting ... struggling is yet to come for me& many others in Canada

As I said, I will save mine for our Yukon party. Well, I can tell on how I came to know about Canada. I was 12 when I did an extensive research about Canada for a school paper and since then it became an obsession to live there. I grabbed each and every opportunity in my pursuit of my dream, from studying in the most reputable university from a third world country I was hailed from, to working in a country where a single woman of my age at 23 years old would not dare to go as it is deemed to be unsafe and upleasant to live in.
That was where I started my journey to Canada but I had to put it aside for another pursuit of happiness. My greatest weakness was men, lol, and I will definitely stop here and leave this part for our Yukon party.
Anyways, as I always say here, this forum has been my second home in the past six months since I started to make my dream into reality. Meeting each one of you here is a privilege and I can say this is the best experience I ever had in joining a forum. I have met here my new best friends @andieangel and @xibalban, now @N_PA_, and all of you who had overwhelmed me with love and care.
Just like you, I am staying here to be with my friends until we all land in Canada. Although I got my ITA, my ray of hope is still shining bright, actually much brighter, for all of you, newbies and oldies.
And as another week has started here in SG, here is my shoutout, "OINP, open HCP stream now! I need to see my friends in Ontario!"

We know there will be a challenge and I tell you what, wherever you live, even in your country life is the biggest challenge you may ever face. The author of this article might think that life in Canada is heaven or there could be an immediate offer with $5000-$6000. You know what, we must build that kind of life with our try and hard working skills.
With all due respect to the person, I do agree with you all on the point that this person got his/her ITA and PR too easily. Another thing is that this person has never got an info or learnt anything about Canada at all in my opinion. Wherever you go, you have to be well informed, do some research, you must do everything step by step, do not try to jump over a big wall, otherwise you will be broken.
To me, I will do whatever I have to do to be able to integrate in the Canadian society as a successful person, it may take a year, 2 or even 3, but I will never give up. I'm doing all these for my family and most importantly for the future of my kid (there will more to come in Canada hopefully
I tell you my Canadian journey, I was in Quebec city, Montreal city and Toronto as well long time ago. I did work there (but that work was under type C job according to NOC and I didn't know about points for only type 0, A and B jobs), so before getting any qualified job according to your profile, you begin with small things like I did. Finding a small job is a piece of cake in Canada, I did find my first job for 3 days only. But I do understand that well qualified job may take some time, and be ready to face some local candidates too.
I have a lot of friends in Canada, mostly students and immigrants. All of them are very happy to live in Canada and some of them became Canadian citizen. Here is story to tell you my friends: one of my friends did not speak English or French, but she tried so hard to learn and got just beginner level (if I take IELTS system that could be Band 4.0) and she got the job even she can't understand everything, some time later she learnt her job very well, speaks French very good, understands English and now she is one of the supervisors of that Company. She did one thing in her life: she NEVER GAVE UP! Now she is very happy and recently got a beautiful house with 5 bedrooms in Montreal (for $180.000).
To sum up, everything depend on our knowledge, willing, patience, accepting a big challenge, life and work experience and so on... That's why, do not pay attention to the people who made everything impossible for themselves. There is only one person to be blamed and that's her or him!
