I completely agree with you...Having lived in Ireland for 7.5 years i can assure you, Jameson is not where near to Scotch. Although it sure depends on taste, but for me, scotch vs jameson, scotch wins hands down lol. But not all the brands are as good, for instance, teacher's is avg, but the best among affordable is the Jonnie Walker's double black. We will have to make the meet up happen from here. That will be exciting. It just can't be only a pleasant nostalgia.
I've had opportunity to try out all except blue label ..and some other scotch too...all in the affordable range around 12yr matured...I like Green label and liked double black and even black too...
Jameson's felt milder....anyway I'm not much of a regular...not that I don't want......kept aside my tastes for times when I have the right company......and place ...
I too like scotch....a lot more than brandies....& Jameson's was an affordable experiment & I liked it...another favorite I Maker's Mark from US bourbon......

and all the white rum too.. Bacardi & Smirnoff vodka...I like them all...
we should set up a pub someplace and every evening throw ourselves a nice party...all of the ROH 66 alumni....
