I can see how CEC and Canadian graduates are beneficial for and attractive for Canada. Having said that, due to some turn of events (most notably *censored word* service Canada and our naivety!) we spent 4 years in Canada with my husband working in a level b job, only to realise that the last two years of the three in that job couldn't be counted toward our points (incorrect noc code issued and at the time we didn't realise the importance of that, we were just pleased we had work permits!). That now leaves us as Outland FSW applicants and not CEC applicants as that one and only year we can count was before the last 3 years. We both lived in Canada for 4 years, working the whole time we were there, 40hrs a week (or more) in a job that promoted the best of Canada to the world, we paid taxes and we contributed to society, we have all our friends out there, I have a horse out there for goodness sake, our lives are out there. So to hear people saying that only CEC and international students have ever proved a contribution to Canada and proved their commitment to Canada and proved their value to Canada, well to you I say that that is simply not true. Circumstances dictate certain things and when who a person is is placed into a box defining them in the eyes of others, all the nature of humans is stripped from them, because we are individual. So you all that are trying to generalise, I suggest you stop. Are there not frustrations you feel from being a paper application in the eyes of the Canadian government?

Just my 2 cents :) Merry Christmas to everyone!

The part that everyone misses is that, yes everyone makes a "contribution" but obviously the government doesn't have infinite resources when it comes to accepting foreigners as permanent residents. From a statistical perspective, international students are very good candidates compared to any other broad category of people temporarily residing in Canada. Many of them graduate from very prestigious universities, are great English speakers and integrate with society very well. Just because someone spent X amount of time in Canada doesn't make it so that the government is morally other otherwise obliged to give them permanent residency.

And I totally understand that, but in the same vein people arguing here that CEC and international students are the only ones going to make it and contribute to Canada post PR, are missing valuable insights into the human side of the process. It's one of those tough things that the government have to do for the exact reasons you stated. And I, on the whole agree :)
I'm just saying the nastiness of the way in which some people here take it to the extreme of dehumanisation and generalisation saddens me! That's the beauty of a forum, it adds a human aspect to the process, one that CIC can't (quite rightly) offer, so to see a lack of it here on a thread of hope isn't very nice!

Quote from cic news

IRCC expects the CRS cut-off point to decrease over time. Stakeholders should note IRCC’s desired and expected outcome of the recent changes which state that candidates without a job offer are likely to have a better chance of receiving an ITA. From January to September, 2016, 35 percent of ITAs were issued to candidates without a job offer or provincial nomination; IRCC expects this figure to increase as we enter 2017.

Depends when they do it in Jan.

If they draw 2500+ each time during the 2nd and 4th week, one would expect a low 480s and a high 460s cutoff respectively.

What is the medium term prospect? Any chances of coming down to 420-430 range in the second half of 2017 (assuming around 2500 ITAs/draw, 2 draws/month)?

Possible. We have to wait for a few more draws to see if a trend forms.

I am new here and so far the experience is quite positive and encouraging.
I studied for one year in canada and worked for one year on a NOC A job.
I stand at 472 speaking french and english, Now I am outside of Canada cause my work permit expired. Hopefully the draw will be in my favor on the next one, as I qualify for CEC.
Just wanted to share the love and thanks for the support yall.

Thanks, but I never said I as a dude ;D
I was wondering if there's any cheap provincial nomination that will accept my case.

  • One year experience in Ontario in 2174 job Software engineer
  • CLB 9 french
  • CLb 7 english
  • 472 score EE
  • Outside of Canada

just looking to increase my score here.
