Calm down pal. Like I said, it takes time for the score to swell down. The changes they made have eliminated most of the loopholes you mentioned. Adding more points for Canadian degrees doesn't change the fact that former int'l students with low score still remain in low ranks, while those with high score will have a better chance to compete with FSWs.

If you have a Canadian bachelor degree, clb 9 and 2 years of Canadian work exp, you now can earn 490 CRS.
I am perfectly calm, I'm having my morning tea, it's a nice winter day here in Toronto. Going to go to work at my SKILLED job lol in a while. Yes, thats my only hope. I will have two years of work exp in Feb and then i'll have 499 points.

in the last draw, these were included -

1. Canadian students with 467 CRS and above with 30 points for canadian education
2. Nafta and Intercompany transfer folks with CRS 447 and above
3. All those FSW and CEC who scored 497 and above
4. Obviously PNP between Nov 30 to Dec 16.

So next draw would consider -
1. Canadian students above 470 (entered the pool after nov 16) and with 15 plus points
2. Canadian students below 467 points with 30 additional
3. NAFTA and Intercompany transfer below 447 CRS
4. PNPs
5. FSWs and CEC whose score is above 470 and entered the pool after nov 16

Well, then congrats. Just wait patiently until you reach 499 CRS, no reason to complain anymore right? Btw, how do you reach 499 CRS? are you married?

I, myself, have absolutely no complaints after recent changes. Things are almost perfect now.

Ok I honestly love you a lot based on your previous posts and your one of my favourite on here but I'm going to respectfully disagree. I'm not comparing FSW's with international students. I think both parties are excellent candidates. But categorizing international students as "23 year old's that know the layout of their city in which their uni was in" is very unfair. ONLY international students that have SKILLED job with one year of SKILLED experience are even allowed to enter the pool, and that only if their english skills are almost excellent. At my place of work most people managers are in their mid 20's and they are managing some of the key decisions in the financial sector in this country. International students have been around for a WHILE and they have already adapted to Canadian life and made connections. The logic is simple if you've already lived in a country for a number of years and you are highly educated and skilled AND you have a skilled job OBVIOUSLY you will be amazing citizens. I have friends all over Canada now that are GREAT networks for job opportunities. My uni was in another province and I work in another province now, Ive seen Canada, I feel like I am from here, Ive been to thanksgiving dinners, been camping, made some amazing friends. Plus I was only 19 when I came here now I'm 26. I AM ready to be an amazing citizen.

anyways rant over lol

Ah, you're alright then... you can stay ;)

I was generalising - however I'm comparing it to the international students I met in the UK.

My point was that with the lmia free for all gone, good young students and good experienced workers are on an equal footing - and this is a good thing.

Also love you too. And I wish this forum had a British sarcasm button. Would help with my humour a bit around here ;)

ur not wrong but it depends on the field/industry. u would prefer 30 + doctor over 23 year doctor to perform ur surgery . But in software or finance 23 + is good. So again the EE system fails to understand that

if these changes were to benefit canada on competitive grounds to attract more students than US, UK, Australia etc. then does it mean that their (Canada) embassies will not reject any student visa on the ground that this candidate looks to be potential PR and will not come back to its own country?????

Those who are advocating the points increase was canadian education industry demand should answer this and should answer why the student visas are getting rejected on a candidate becoming potential PR???
Because as much as they want to attract more international students, they still don't want to open its door wide for ALL people, incl. whom they considered a security thread or medical system burden etc.

You didnt read my post completely. I said embassies and the visa officer should not reject any student visa with a reason as this candidate can be a potential PR and will not return to home country.

They can reject for other reasons...totally fine...but IRCCcan not be a hypocrite on one side giving extra points for canadian education to become a PR and in the same time stop the student visa with the same reason....isnt it?

Thank You. No single 26 years old. Maxed out CELPIP test full marks in all the categories. 2 years Canadian work exp, 30 points for Canadian degree= 499 as per the crs score calculator

I cannot agree with you more...like you said, not comparing FSWs with Int. students, but all your points above is valid in my opinion. I came at 16 and now going into my 10th year in Canada. I considered myself Canadian more than many newcomers who came here at 30+. For them this is a better place to live/ work, for me, this is my HOME.

After 2.5 years there I considered it my home, too.

Unfortunately the witch who declined my lmia because I was "over qualified" decided I needed to spend sometime back in the UK before I was Canada worthy.

Hmm...I see what you mean now.
I guess its the intention that matters? They don't want you to use student/ work visa as a mean to become PR.
But if you come here to study/ work then decided you want to stay because you have built your connection or whatever, then okay, you can apply. :p

I suppose the same witch denied my lmia too. I don't know why these guys enjoy making people's lives more difficult than how much the Canadian winter already makes.
