As a non native speaker I have scored full points for the language section. My advice is to take Celpip rather than ielts. It's was easier to score in and greater room for error.

Guys,

When is the next draw ?
I got my nomination and exciteddd toooo appppllyyyyy 8)

Will the OINP nominations have any affect on the cut-off score for the next draw?
It will but to a extent. If the itas issued are around 1800 the score will still fall to ~470

hope for the best

Thank you very much.

I'm nativeEnglish, but in the listening I had a mild panic attack and just stopped listening... so 7.5
Reading was 8 (not sure what I missed there)
Writing was 8 (bad speller)
Speaking g was 9.

I just need my listening to go up to an 8 and I go to 461 points. :D

yeah, difference between 7.5 and 8 is like 50 points for me almost... in listening that is

what i usually do for listening tests is write down literally the entire conversation, becoz the test is tricky and questions are not always exactly as they seem... section 1 is usually pretty easy, section 4 is also fairly easy if you can make quick notes... 2 and 3 the ones with multiple choice questions are the tricky lot... it helps if you have a written conversation to see, read and then write down correct answers... got 8.5 twice on listening in 2 ielts i wrote back in 09 and 14 ...

unf didnt do that great this year coz my ielts is now expiring in december (thanks OINP, sigh) wrote an exam - got 7.5 in listening (admittedly i tanked it to a large extent) - rewrote the exam last saturday - waiting for a result now...
even 8 should be fine - will help in maintaining my score.

Thanks. The test was taken 5 days after my lmia was denied and 1 week before we left Canada. I hadn't slept for days and was devastated (Jan 2015). I was not in a good place then and for the last 2 years I lived in NZ and travelled SEA. Now back in the UK, on solid wages and ready to charge at this head on.

After we had to leave Canada i had 6 months of therapy. We are going back... they don't have a choice ;)

wow 6 months of therapy ? thats rough... hope you are better now

yes to a large extent... but if draw is over 1800>, then i expect score to be 471 ...
there will be a lot of people between 450-475, i would estimate around 4-5k becoz they have been piling up since feb this year when score dropped to 451, so for scores to fall to around 450 it will take some draws of around 2k each to flush out the backlog...

Much better now, thank you. It was a huge shock having to leave our new home because one woman reviewing my LmIA decided me having a degree wasn't essential for the role. Ugh.
