With US cities practically abandoning social distancing with the protests, it is hard to make an argument against extending those restrictions with the US
I want FSW to continue and I'm in the US now. But this statement makes no sense.

I talked to a Canadian immigration consultant friend today....he said as per his contacts (dont know what contacts !!)....there wont be any FSW draw till september.... they might even stop the CEC after july and continue with the PNPs, FSts....since canadian employers are already employing them.....there are huge backlog of people who already got their COPRs trying to come to canada......economy and job market is in awful state...original canadians are without jobs amid record level of unemployment....he said govt is rethinking about the immigration nos as inviting people from outside will only stress them further even when their own canadians are finding it hard to meet their ends...lots of his PR holders clients have returned back to India in last 1 year.

Guys sorry for asking this at this topic.

I have 459 points. Learning French as well.

Due to the current situation and rising crs scores, I am now looking into a 1-year coop diploma program in my field in Canada. Then getting a job and pr easier.

Has anyone also considered this option? How logical does it sound?

Thank you guys.

I created an account specifically to reply to your message. If you are learning French, that could be enough for you and there is no need for anything else. If you get CLB/NCLC 7 in French, then you can get:

  • 15 additional points if you scored CLB 4 or lower in English (or if you didn’t take an English test)
  • 30 additional points if you scored CLB 5 or higher on all four English skills

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/language-requirements.html

Assuming you have at least Band 5 in IELTS in all four skills and you get CLB 7 in your French exam, that will give you 12 points for the French exam and 30 additional points. That would bring your score from 459 + 12 + 30 = 501 : More than enough points for an ITA!

Your consultant is right.
Even I heard this from a trusted source. But never know what happens.

The immigrants and PR holders do not have to go to Canada if they cannot find a job. Maybe Indian PR holders increase the competition too much because most of them have very similar skills. This does not have to be true for all FSW applicants.

Of course IRCC can decide to do whatever they want. All we want is a clear expectation so we can move on and come up with a new plan if necessary.
Not personal to you but please stop spreading these speculations.

I am a FSW Candidate, but looked at employment while waiting for my ECA. I had no trouble hearing back from employers in agriculture, with a few willing to go the LMIA route, but I rather wanted to try the EE route, due to PR and not a work permit with uncertainty of being tied to a single employer. I am regretting that now with the Non-FSW draws. So agriculture seems good and I see their LMIA application are being prioritized. People will always need food and it is an industry that a lot of people are not getting into.
Oh yeah, Canada definitely needs agriculture people

If I am not wrong, articles like these refer to actual immigration as in letting people inside the country and not immigration programs right? Once people are allowed to enter, don't you think thousands of COPR holders who didn't land in the last 2-3 months will start landing in Canada and the immigration numbers referred in this article will go up no?
