Guys sorry for asking this at this topic.

I have 459 points. Learning French as well.

Due to the current situation and rising crs scores, I am now looking into a 1-year coop diploma program in my field in Canada. Then getting a job and pr easier.

Has anyone also considered this option? How logical does it sound?

Thank you guys.
If you already have a degree it’s a good option. I would suggest a 2 year diploma as it would help you get a 3 year work permit instead of 1 year work permit after you graduate. Most diploma students tend of have a degree from back home.

This isn't a good plan. You want to take a 2 year program so that you qualify for a 3 year work permit. Many come here for a 1 year degree and then don't manage to get a full year of Canadian work experience with just a 1 year PGWP. If you are going to come here to study, you want to study for at least two years.

Is it possible that CEC candidates below 440 are outland candidates who left Canada after their PGWP expired? That could be the reason for resuming all program draws.

A CEC candidate with Canadian masters and 1year Canadian experience with CLB9 in Ielts gets 480+ score and with CLB8, score become 455+, so I sm guessing they losing points due to age.

There are many CEC candidates who are older with only a diploma and valid work experienceSome with a undergrad who could only get a job in their field closer to the end of their PGWP.

I am sure the higher scores in FSW draws will make a lot of International students reconsider coming to Canada unless they are doing the masters as it seems the current immigration path is easiest and most likely for international students who graduated with a masters and at least a year of Canadian work experience.

Where to get information on diplomas in canada?
Do we need to take ielts general or academic in order to go for a diploma

Lastly, is there any age limit for pursuing a diploma?

As of now it's until the end of June (the travel restrictions). No one knows about the CEC draws.

reposting this from previous thread

I think CEC draws may run out of candidates in a few more CEC only draws. My logic is

  • Most CEC candidates are likely to have more than 433 on CRS score. Most international students in Canada are masters students and are in their 20s and likely to have IELTS score of more than 6. They should have a minimum of 1 year Canadian work experience to be eligible as CEC candidates. Even If they don’t have any foreign experience they will be at 433.
  • CEC candidates make up only a small percentage of express entry pool, approx 15%(https://wenr.wes.org/2019/01/canadas-express-entry-immigration-system-changes-in-applicant-pool-and-behavior-after-its-implementation). Another proof for this is that there were more FSW candidates left behind in the score range that CEC candidates were picked up in the recent CEC only draws.
  • Cut of crs score decreased 27 points from 467 to 440 in six draws. So, if they continue CEC draws, the score will drop to 433 in one or two more draws and after that there might be very few CEC candidates.

So, below 433, IRCC will either switch to general draws or stop the draws all together till the pandemic subsides in all the countries.

What do you all think?
How about those with CRS score of 410-420 with CEC ! My manager is sitting at 413

Lol, low scoring CEC candidates are riding on some luck. No one really knows when IRCC is going to revert to regular draws. If they were to start FSW-inclusive general draws in June, CEC candidates with less than 468 CRS points can kiss goodbye to their dreams of getting an ITA. However, if the trend continues for a few more draws, it is quite possible someone with 410 can get an ITA. I doubt IRCC is going to let it drop so much.

Is that the US-Canada border, or have they made statements saying that other borders/entry points like airports will be reopening and travel restrictions lifted at the end of June?

Both are until late June or the end of June right now. I believe it's June 22 for the US / Canada border and June 30 for the air travel. That's just how long the restrictions are in place for now. Impossible to say right now if the restrictions will be lifted after these dates or extended out further.

With US cities practically abandoning social distancing with the protests, it is hard to make an argument against extending those restrictions with the US
