Guys, some thoughts here (just me releasing some frustration as I will be losing 5 points tomorrow):
I know that this is ROH and all that BS but in order to build hope we need to face the reality as well. We can't build hope base on angels, rainbows or magical CRS score drop downs. In my case, I was in Nov last year with my 438 100% sure I would get an ITA by first quarter of this year and yet here we are. The score has not even dropped below 440 and honestly it will not drop. That is the new reality we need to face. Whatever happened in previous years with scores below 420 or the new US president or more applicants than before, is what has changed the landscape for 2018 and guess what? 2019 will be the same or most likely even worse.
So my advice to all in this ROH is to first accept that 440 is the new limit now. Hoping that will go below that is just non sense. It has never gone below and every time we predict or forecast it will go below then we see surprises like yesterday and the same old reason are given by us to excuse the "unexpected" result: more applicants in the pool, provincial nominees coming and the new one is computer IELTS (which personally I believe will affect a lot next year).
So for those of us below 440 (and who want to materialize the Canadian dream in the next 2-3 years) we have 2 options: either improve the score above 440 or look somewhere else. As simple as that. If you are at 436, 437 do not pray the score to drop down because it won't. Work for it.
The best of luck for all and congrats to ones who got the ITA yesterday. Another challenge begins for you guys!
I agree with all of the above. a friend mine introduced me to this entire process around last year when the cut off was 432 or even lower i think. All i was aiming for was a 435 or 440 and this lead to me not giving my best in IELTS twice scoring 6.5 overall band and then band 7.
so my advice to all the people who are planning and invested in this process is, Aim or even think the target score is 455 , 460 or even higher if you have to and put your mind to it. You will be surprised the wonders human will power has to achieve !!!
1. The score is only going to go higher. Having a buffer of 10-15 points is the best possible chance to be invited in the upcoming rounds
2. If you are only at bachelor's please enroll into a years Diploma program from a recognized University. I know IGNOU is great and inexpensive. While you wait you might as well increase your chances.
3. You will be gaining more work experience.
4. Learn french if you have to ( I usually don't recommend this as it will take roughly the same time as the additional Diploma, but compared to TEF you are at least assured a degree for lifetime)
5. IELTS aim CLB 10, practice practice, read more often and you will reach the CLB9 or even higher.
6. The political scene is likely going to change and affect allot of the process and we cannot be guessing, thinking it will not affect us while it is indeed affecting.
7. All those Indians in the USA who are a masters degree holders are coming to canada in numbers you can't even imagine. The silicon valley or otherwise companies there are shifting their base to canada as well and mostly Ontario, this is only increasing way too qualified candidates.
8. knowing your competition helps succeed in this game and not guessing. so please work on it.
