Hey guys,
I am expecting my passport and CoPR by Tuesday/Wednesday hopefully as the application has been closed and approved.
My question is, can I walk over the bridge to do the landing without getting to the American side and getting refusal.. Essentially I'll just turn back before going into the USA.. As if I just wanted to see the falls and come right back.. Is that a viable option?

Reply from Asivad for your Question:

My take on that - it's very ambitious to try and 'land' in Canada without even stepping outside the country!

Your question on that thread is sensible - one has to step outside Canadian soil somewhere and then turn around and head back onto Canadian soil to initiate the 'landing' process unless you're booking an appointment at your nearest IRCC office or doing the landing at a port of entry after arriving into Canada from any overseas location.

I would agree. We tried to do that to extend my husbands work permit - although we drove. We kind of did a u-turn without getting a refusal notice but was told by a CBSA officer that we had to physically leave Canada then return again. I would say that you would require the refusal notice to show that you left Canadian soil.

One has to walk to the USA side, enter their office and get the refusal letter. They know that people come for flagpoling. Then the letter is taken by the Canadian side, only then they let you enter. I have been through this, walk across the bridge barely takes 5-7 minutes.
