Check what AINP has to say about WP extension:
http://albertacanada.com/immigration/help.aspx?m=f&cid=2&qid=236

It says there you 'may' and it never mentioned about BOWP and remember also, only CIC can extend your work permit not the AINP nor any province who nominated you.
It says very clear in CIC that you need to have file number from CIO to apply your BOWP.
If you don't have first hand experience about getting BOWP using your nomination alone, then you are giving a misleading information here.

I am just sharing what I saw happening in my ex-room-mate's case.
I am not making up the rules here or saying that what I have written is CIC's rule.
No-one here has the full information as theres nothing clearly written on nither AINP nor CIC websites. Even the CIC websites says that u may be eligible for a BOWP.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/2012-12-17.asp

"Qualifying foreign nationals currently in Canada who have submitted an application for permanent residence under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) or the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) may be considered for an open work permit if their current work permit will soon expire."

We all are here to help each-other out with our experiences.
No offences.

so if u received your nomination, if you're work permit isnt expiring yet, lets say there's still a year, ur not eligible to apply for an open work permit to switch employer? thanks in advance

Do not share information you can't support with a CIC rule.
It is clear that you are just philosophically giving your reasons just to make you not liable of your misleading information.

And there's no offense in my suggesting to you the website, and yes we are helping each other here but if you are providing misleading info then you got to be corrected and don't be offended.

Correct, you can't apply for BOWP.
You have to submit your application to CIO, when you receive your file number and your permit is to expire within 4 months you are free to apply for BOWP.

My AINP is in progress however my passport is going to expire in January/15. Do I renew my passport now and update to AINP or update it at the time of federal part ( second stage)? which one is the best one as AINP is playing around with the applicants.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=177&t=17

According to paragraph 5. You may extend your work permit if
You have a temporary resident permit valid for at least six months.
Temporary resident permit is your work permit
