Record of landing, described here.

What you need depends on where you will get married. Ask your boyfriend to go to city hall where ever he is based, they can help him.
Or you can ask a notary to marry you, they will tell you what you need.

In Quebec, you both need birth certificates, if either of you have been divorced, you will need official documents that prove the last marriage has ended.

In Ontario is is similar, but you need a lawyer to certify any non Canadian documents.

A Record of Landing is what you get after you apply for permanent residence and are approved and "landed". Permanent Residence is the only way that you can come and live with your new husband in Canada. If you're intending to settle in Canada, best to read through the information on the US2Canada website, and then come back here with any questions about the process. But again - I repeat - you cannot live and/or work in Canada . . . even when you're married to a Canadian citizen . . . until you have been approved for permanent status. You can only be in Canada as a visitor.

And DON'T tell the officer at the border on your entry that you're coming into Canada to get married - they'll turn you around so fast it'll make your head spin.
