So... my fiancé and I are getting married in a months time (february)! So Excited!! We are both UK citizens, although I am also a Canadian permanent resident, and we are getting married back in England. We are having a short honeymoon in England for about 10 days and then we are planning on flying back to Canada. For myself, it won't be a problem coming back into the country because I am a Canadian resident. However, she is planning on coming out to live with me/visit me till I have finished my schooling for the end of May. She has already booked her return ticket back England for June 6th. She's planning on coming out on a tourist visa to stay with me for those 3-4months. She has been out 3 times to visit me over the last 2 years (and I've been out there a number of times as well) and has never had any problems with coming out, but then she was only visiting for a couple of weeks at a time.
However, I've heard nightmare stories of spouses being denied the tourist visa and not being allowed entry into canada. Are there any steps that we can be taking now that will allow the border/immigration officer to view her entry and visa application with as little suspicion as possible? What are the things that we could/should be doing now? Can we apply for her visa before she comes out? How does it all work?
Any information and help will be most appreciated! Thanks.
