If a child aged 16 is already in Canada on study permit attending secondary school (both parents are in Canada on work permits) and extends the stay in Canada,

1. Will child be getting a visitor visa or student visa and for what maximum duration?
2. Will child be getting a study permit as last time?
3. Will child be authorized to do part-time work?

1. Is there a restriction on overall duration for myself? I would be finishing 3 years. Can I get another 3 years if my employer is ready to sponsor?
2. I heard nowadays everyone gets visitor visa and do not get student visa. Hence the question.

1. Assume you would need a LMIA to apply for a closed work permit. Or you apply for PR. Your child’s study permit is based on your work permit.
2. If your child plans to leave Canada and return, then needs a valid TRV. If TRV is expired and there are plans to travel then apply for a new TRV and study permit.
