Hi,

Is the new package any better than the old one? I'm applying for inland and I'm not sure which way to go:

I couldn't secure 2 letters from friends. Currently, I have just one notarized from a friend that knows of our relationship but hasn't met my sponsor. It seems like it's not required for the new package or is it? They also seem to have removed the IMM5409E Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union.

The letters/text messages have become optional for inland application? They already have limits to messages (10 pages) and photos (20).

We have CRA which has been filed but I'm not sure if they'd send a letter of confirmation. We don't have joint lease (as the apartment is owned by my partner), bills (my phone bill is under my partner's name), etc. as I'm just holding a TRV.

There are some some things that I'm not sure of:
- If you have any formal documentation supporting your common-law relationship (e.g. cohabitation agreement, documentation showing you have registered your common-law relationship, formally entered into a Registered Domestic Partnership, or similar legal arrangement), please submit this to support your application.
--- Should I submit the CRA here or IMM5409E Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union?

Additional requirements:
- Proof of financial dependency.
--- We have joint bank account, I'm a supplementary holder of credit card
- Important documents for you or your sponsor that you are recognized as each other's spouse
--- Should we submit CRA?
- Other proof that your relationship is recognized by your friends and/or family.
--- Should I submit the letter I got from my friend?

Are these correct? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I went with the old kit since the documents I collected were according to the old kit. I think the new kit is more specific like joint lease and the likes. My partner doesn't rent and I couldn't be added to the title because they require social number. The new kit also limits the screenshot of messages and photos. We actually had over 100 pages but we trimmed it down to around 20. It's still over for the new kit so we submitted the old one since they still accepted old kits in January.

Yes you would include the Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union for that section (Civil Status documents) We did.

- Proof of financial dependency.
--- We have joint bank account, I'm a supplementary holder of credit card

yes this is good especially if the account has been joint for one year or more. In that case it would show proof of common law.

- Important documents for you or your sponsor that you are recognized as each other's spouse
--- Should we submit CRA?

I'm not clear what you mean by submitting CRA. Do you mean to show status as common law?
Life insurance policies where you are each others beneficiaries would be good. Or social media like Facebook or Youtube that shows your relationship is known publicly..

- Other proof that your relationship is recognized by your friends and/or family.
--- Should I submit the letter I got from my friend?

yes include the letter.

For your cohabitation, you should get a letter written to confirm you have been living together for at least one year. You can explain your situation on a separate sheet of paper.
