hi,

First of all its my first time here and i would just like to ask... I am recently undergoing for a sponsorship application for permanent residence in manitoba and i am already done with the medical exam. If all goes well i will be able to enter canada at the end of the year. My question is, I plan on leaving canada immediately, maybe staying there for 1 week only, and then go back to my previous country because im planning on marrying my GF and then sponsor her as well for PR in manitoba, question 1) first of all, is this ok? can i leave canada for the time being and then marry her? 2) if we did marry outside canada, what do we need to do to go to canada together and to have her live there as well without us not going back and forth between 2 countries? because im assuming i need to stay in canada to get my PR card. i highly appreciate if you can enumerate the steps for this. basically what i just want is to have my gf to enter canada as my wife without us being separated from one another, and also i would like it if we minimize going back and forth because its expensive. lols Embarrassed

Can you provide more information?

Who is currently sponsoring you for PR?

Have you been living with your GF for 1 year or more?

How is your brother sponsoring you? Is he sponsoring your parents and you're an accompanying dependant?

im not quire sure for your first question.. but he is sponsoring my parents and me as a dependant i guess because we applied for sponsorship a long time ago.

i guess to put it simply, if i became a permanent resident (but having only lived in canada for a week) can i sponsor my spouse? and can i stay outside of canada until my GF or soon to be wife can enter canada as well?

Have you and your girlfriend lived together (anywhere in the world) for one year or more?

That's good, because if you HAD lived together, you would have needed to add her to your existing application now, because you would be her Common-Law partner.

hmm... so im guessing if we had lived together there would be a lot of problems right? thank you for the good news.

but again back to my question, is this all possible? can i leave canada and sponsor her then wait until both of us can go to canada together?

Yes; you would have never been able to sponsor her.

You can land and then leave immediately. You can remain outside of Canada for up to 3 years.

You can sponsor her as soon as you are married, but you will need to be in (and remain in) Canada to apply, because you are not a Canadian citizen. Your wife may be able to visit you and remain in Canada during the process, but it's never guaranteed...especially if she requires a visa to enter Canada.

No. As stated above, you must reside in Canada throughout the entire sponsorship process.
