Hello everyone, I need your guidance on my Family Sponsorship situation.

Current situation: I am a Canadian Permanent Resident. I have lost both my parents and grandparents , they all died of natural causes. I do not have any blood relatives living in Canada either. I have 30,000+ CAD in Registered Bank Accounts that I can show as Sponsorship Funds. My questions are:
  1. Am I eligible to sponsor my orphaned brother, above 18 years of age, for Canadian Permanent Residency. Based on my research, I am eligible under the "Other Relatives" category, also known as the Lonely Canadian Program. Can someone confirm if so?
  2. If I am eligible to sponsor my orphaned brother under the Family Sponsorship: Other relatives, would I, in the future, be eligible to sponsor my spouse under the Family Sponsorship: Spousal category? There could be 2 cases here.
    1. My brother's application is in progress. Will my spousal application invalidate my previous Family Sponsorship: Other relatives application?
    2. My brother has received his PR. Will my Spousal Sponsorship application be affected?
  3. Mine and my orphaned brother's National Identity Documents (Passport, Aadhar Card, Election card, Ration Card) have slightly differences in them, like, addresses, father and mother names, sibling names, etc. How to satisfy the immigration officer that we are indeed orphaned siblings?
  4. My late parents' Birth and Death Certificates are issued in Hindi and Gujarati (Indian languages). Do I need to get them translated to an official Canadian language?
    1. I do not have my mother's original Birth Certificate. Is that okay?
  5. What is the processing time for the Family Sponsorship: Other category? The IRCC website just shows "Not enough data". Screenshot
  6. Any other inputs that can help with a clear, concise application, based on past experiences of fellow members.
If someone has been in a similar situation, and has got a successful sponsorship, their help would be much appreciated. TIA.

1. Check the instructions.
2. In future, yes. If you get married before or during the sponsorship of your brother, you will no longer be eligible to sponsor him.
3. You will have to document that your brother is your brother. If the 'slight differences' are just typos or similar, probably not an issue.
4. Yes.
5. Fairly long, likely up to 2 years, even more. But ... not enough data.

  1. Yes
  2. The important point is when you get married or become common law. NOT when you sponsor your spouse.
    1. Yes. If you get married before the sponsorship application for your brother is finalize and he landed, it will invalidate you as a sponsor under the lonely Canadian program
    2. No. If you get married AFTER your brother become and landed as PR, you can sponsor your spouse in the future.
  3. You need to get documents to proof that those are indeed insignificant differences. Not sure if IRCC will request DNA testing. But legal documents to show that you 2 are indeed siblings is a better route.
  4. Any document that's not in English or French will need to be translated.
  5. Longer than other family class sponsorship applications (e.g. spouse/dependents...etc).

Note that qualifying for this program is based on your income and not savings. Expect processing times of around 3 years. You won't be able to marry or sponsor a future spouse until your sibling has landed in Canada and become a PR. So you need to be prepared to wait a few years before you can get married or live with anyone.
