Where did I say immigrants are to blame for all social or economic failings? I said the asylum (and many refugee) programs in Canada are incredibly expensive to run and are costing billions of dollars annually so yes that does have an impact. The reforms are needed to process applications faster and to screen temporary residents better to limit the volume of asylum claims. Taking years to process applications is not good for applicants but also extremely costly for Canada. The volume of immigrants of all types does have an impact on housing costs, wait time for services, etc. but so does poor planning and underinvestment by governments. Two things can be true at once.Immigration is not the reason for social & economic failings of countries and governments, it is the shiny object used to distract people from blaming those in power and those with accumulated wealth who are the true culprits.
Immigrants do not cause housing shortages, neither do they cause budget deficits- 'based on pure numbers alone' decisions by governing parties paid for by corporations is why we are in this mess.
