Question regarding processing times

When I go to the CIC homepage, they say the average processing time is 17 months. When I look at the spreadsheet (link below), the average turns out to be closer to 10 months.

So here's my question: does that 17 months or 10 months include the time it takes for them to give AOR1? i.e., is that the total time between mailing our applications and getting the passport stamp? I'm a sponsor living in Canada and my wife is in Pakistan. My app is currently on its way to LVO after getting SA at Mississauga.

Yes it includes that. If the spreadsheets are saying 10 months, then expect around 10 months unless you have red flags. 10 months from when you mail it in, that is.

The spreadsheets are far more reliable than the processing time thingie.

HOWEVER - This new year, 2016, I'm seeing so little movement in CIC that I'm wondering if things are taking longer. I am wondering if maybe they are working hard to get the refugees here safely and out of harm's way, and maybe Family Class and other non-emergency classes have been put on temporary hold, or were on hold previously and now they're playing catch-up. I don't think this will add considerable time, but I personally am seeing a bit of a slow-down since around December 2015. The spreadsheets and your forum-post thread (outland Month 20xx) will help you see how things are going in your VO and your country.

I got AOR1 in around 55 days, then SA in 4 days. Is that considered slow? I'm not sure since I haven't really looked at the spreadsheets too much.

No that sounds pretty fast to me! I'm not familiar with your country or whatever VO you use, though. In America it usually takes like, around 75 days or more for Sponser approval, I think. If that helps for comparing at all.

But VO/nationality doesn't really have an effect on SA timeline. It's all processed at the same place.

The processing times vary more due to missing documentation case by case. For example, The FBI check takes between 13 to 15 weeks Some secure the FBI check first then apply Others apply in parallel Others wait till asked. Similarly with Medical There are also many cases where a document is missed and it takes time to be notified then submit. It also varies by source country and Visa Office. Hence the duration varies widely and the average considers all those variations. To get a better idea follow an originating country specific thread on here. Learn that the most common delays are Medical and FBI processes so do those upfront or in parallel. know how long they take for your region,
