Question Regarding Passport Request

Hello Folks,

I am an American and applied for PR under CEC. My wife is a Pakistani national and resides in Pakistan.

Just did my medical and paid RPRF.

My question is, will CIC ask me to submit my wife's passport in Canada since my application is being processed by CPP-O. or they will ask my wife to submit her passport in Islamabad Pakistan.

Passport request comes only to the principal applicant and it mentions that passports of all family members (those who need visa stamping) be sent to Ottawa office. There have been instances where an applicant has requested stamping at the country they are staying. This request is handled on case by case basis - it depends on the individual officer handling the case.

I understand that you dont need visa as you're an American. I also see that Pakistan passport cannot be sent outside of Pakistan through post. Apart from requesting stamping at Islamabad, the only other option I see in your case is to send your passport through a person traveling outside of Pakistan and return to her through a person going to Pakistan.

I am June2013 CEC applicant. I am in canada and my wife is in pakistan.When passport request will come i donot know what to do? Do i have to request officer to stamp her passport at islamabad embassy or what to do.
Please help

You can reply to passport request email and request her stamping in Pakistan.

All CEC applications are finalized in Ottawa. You should respond to that email and request for her stamping in Pakistan.

So you are saying that CIC asked for your wife's passport to be submitted at Ottawa office. Then you made the request so she can submit her passport in India.

Thanks for your help so far. So you are 100% sure that CPP-O will ask me to submit my wife's passport at Ottawa office. If that is the case then I have to get her passport.
