Hi all,

(As it was recently announced that international graduates with a recently expired or expiring post-graduation work permit (“PGWP”) will quality for an additional or extended work permit of up to 18 months.)

From my research, i think it only applies to PGWP's expiring in 2023. My PGWP is expiring in January 2024, so I'm wondering what's the best course of action for me to extend it? Any input will be appreciated. Thanks :)

The best course to extend it is to find an employer who is willing to give you a job offer and approved LMIA so that you can switch to a closed work permit. Alternatively, if you qualify to apply for PR and manage to receive ITA or be nominated before the PGWP expires, then a bridging open work permit may be an option.

As of now, you are right, the policy does not extend to PGWP expiries in 2024.

Does anyone know anything about the probability of this happening again for expired PGWPs in 2024 ? like are there any rumors or is it impossible to happen again ?
It gets really stressing when its less than 1 year left in your PGWP .
