Hello all!

About Me:
Female
24
American
Applying for Inland Family-Class Sponsorship by my common-law spouse as well as the OWP (through the one-year pilot program).

I have a tricky question.
I originally submitted my Sponsorship Forms + the Open Work Permit (Pilot Program): Jan 21 2015
It was returned w/missing documents and I resubmitted: March 13 2015

November 6th and 7th there is an event in the United States (where I am from) that I would like to attend.
I assume that I will have my OWP by then. My question is:

Have any of you left and returned to Canada while under the OWP from the 1 Year Pilot Program (while your sponsorship app was still processing)? Can you tell me a little about your experience?

I am concerned if I will be able to leave Canada and attend this event. My package (by that point) will be 8 months out. If I receive my OWP while my PR/Sponsorship app is processing, will that grant me access to return home for two days to attend this event? It's a large event and I would need to start planning in advance (around now).

Thanks for the answers guys/gals!

More than one person has reported being allowed to re-enter without any problems, but there is NO guarantee! An OWP, alone, does not grant you (or anyone) approval to re-enter Canada.

Also, since your application was returned by CIC, did you still have legal status when your resent the application?

Yeah my current work permit is still legal, and will be until April 15. Since today is March 26th, that means I still have legal status.
I resent my package around March 13th (I copied a little bit of that post so I wouldn't have to type it all again).

Thanks for that link -- a lot of helpful comments there!
