Hi all,

I fall into the category 3 of FSW which I worked in Canada and have a work permit. They ask for proof showing that I have been in Canada at least one year or more. What paperwork should I prepare for this one? Thanks for any response here.

"Evidence of their authorized stay may include: an entry stamp in their passport, a temporary resident
record, a work permit, or a study permit. Evidence of being a temporary foreign worker or
international student may include: letters from employers or schools, records of pay, attendance,
report cards, transcripts, etc. Evidence of being in Canada may include a residential address and
correspondence sent to that address. These examples of evidence are neither exhaustive nor
exclusive.

Persons in Canada who have been studying or working here throughout a one-year period, during
which they were also subject to an unenforced removal order, are not legally residing in Canada.
Their applications are not eligible for placement into processing under Ministerial Instructions."

If your mailing address is in Canada, you have a work permit , and a letter of employment - all of which you have to submit anyway - you probably don't need any further documentation.

Very helpful Jes_ON. I do need to read the OP06 more careful :). I am currently living in Canada but will move back to Vietnam in March 2010, so I put my mailing address in Vietnam and choose Singapore CHC as my local office. Does that sound ok to you? I plan to attach a letter explaining this situation, and hope it clarifies things a bit more for them. Any other suggestions that you think may be needed as well? Thanks again Jes_ON.

I think you have to be living in Canada at the time that you apply, so I am not certain about this.

Your idea makes sense to me, if that means anything. If you put a Vietnam mailing address, include your letter of explanation, but I think you should also supply some other proof of your address/residence in Canada (e.g. certified copy of your lease, driver's license, etc., something else "official" that was mailed to you with your Canadian address on it).
