Question: additional information for family sponsorship, what's next?

Hi all,

Today, I received letter from CIC to provide additional information for myself and my parents. I submitted the application for sponsorship Jan. 2010. They asked to provide a few forms for my parents (IMM0008, IMM5406, IMM5669), and only the Option C for my tax. I have a few questions, please help.

1. Why they ask for my parents information? Does it mean my sponsorship is approved? So, they are process the immigration case?
2. Usually, how long does it take from this moment for the immigration application? Will I get some kind of confirmation after I send them the additional information?

It sounds like you sponsored your parents, correct?

If so, then it sounds like you are getting close to completing stage 1 of the process (assessment of sponsor) which takes approximately 40 months to complete. Once stage 1 is finished, the application will be forwarded to the country office for stage 2 of processing. You can find the approximately stage 2 processing times here:

The processing time for your visa office on the above page will tell you approximately how much longer you will likely have to wait.

It is normal for CIC to request updated information since the process takes so long to complete.

Yes, this is for my parents. From the link there, so, basically, there will be another 40+ months to wait. such a long time.
