Hey guys,

I'm just going over all the forms for a spousal sponsorship out land but both my spouse and I are having issues with one question in particular.

In the new bar code IMM0008 question 12 Previous Countries of Residence, we're unsure if it means an added up total of more than 6 months in 5 years, or if it is a particular stay that lasted over 6 months. The reason we're not sure is that over the past 2 years my spouse has visited for a total for 6 months twice, so we do not know if that counts or not.

Thanks for any info it's much appreciated.

EDIT: Also when filling out all these forms I understand you put Not Applicable, NA, or N/A in parts that do not apply. Do I fill every single blank space I am not using with any of these? Or just once box in a section with it?

My husband only included countries where he had stayed at least 6 months at one time. He did not include Taiwan, where he had stayed for more than 2 years all together, but for only 2 months at any one time. That he was there was obvious, in particular because it is where we met and so was mentioned a lot in the application. The visa officer never asked for a police certificate for Taiwan, so I took that to mean the stay has to be 6 months or more at one time.

Thanks for the info, I'll omit stating anything in that particular question.

EDIT: Hopefully it won't hurt our application but I'll just put N/A in all the empty boxes that do not apply.

Hi serph,

I agree with the suggestion of Canadianwomen.
You can put NA for column 12.
But my opinion is that it would be better if she make a note in an additional sheet of paper that she visited ------(place) twice and each stay is not exceeding 6 months. It is because in case (?) in future when the reviewing officer at the immigration section find from her passport that she has traveled to ---- (place), there could be a possible query for that and would delay the processing.

Please be noted that the guide says about a Police clearance from any country where he/she lived for a period of 6 consecutive months or more.

:D You may do what you feel appropriate.
