question about sponsor parents

the 2012 minimun income for sponsor is 36,xxx, i think 2013 would be 37,xxx.

my question is does rent count as income? do I have to proof that I have rent as income? (copy of cheques? NOA report?)

$36,637 LICO is for 1 person sponsoring only 1 parent for family size of 2. If you have spouse, kids, or are sponsoring 2 parents, you need to increase your family size and LICO requirement.

NOA or Option Cs are the ONLY form of proof CIC will accept. Rent income will be included on your NOA, so that is what you need to submit to show you meet LICO for 2010, 2011 and 2012. 2013 income is not relevant at this time for submitting applications now.

Rental income is taxable and you have to show it as your income while filing your taxes, unless you are taking cash (don't want to pay taxes on that).

If it was not showed while filing taxes, then there's no other way to show it beacuse if you didn't pay tax on that you cheated (we all do that).

Also if you had shown it, then it's already included as the part of your income on the NOA.

You can't show it seperately.

I think it will be a futile attempt to apply for sponsorship as there is no 2013 lico released for this year's application. CIC cannot compare your 2013 income to 2013 lico that are not released to the public.

Yes if current rules stay how they are, you can plan to apply in Jan 2016.

As rob has mentioned, that is correct. You will have to wait until Jan 2016. You are in the same boat as me. I am also in my second year. If I want to sponsor my wife's parents, I would have to wait until jan 2016 as well.

Actually, I cannot apply for my wife's parents until 2017 as I cannot meet the LICO of 2012 as I only begun working half the year in 2012. So I would have to wait until I get 2013, 2014, 2015 NOAs before I can apply in Jan 2017. 3 years from now.

I think its not really fair like this way, because we have to wait for the LICO after the year was passed(for example, we know the 2013 LICO in 2014, basically，we have to wait additional one year to apply )
