Hi all,

Today I received e-mail from CIC with request for additional information regarding my PR application. They asked for police certificates of myself and my family members. I have sent original of my police certificate accompanied with certified translation together with application package and none of my family members (my parents and my sister) are not included in application. Would they need their police certificates anyway?

That is text of the e-mail that I received:

"This letter refers to your application for permanent residence under the Spouse or Common-law
Partner in Canada class.

Subsection 16(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act states that a person who makes an
application must answer truthfully all questions put to them for the purpose of the examination and
must produce a visa and all relevant evidence and documents that the officer reasonably requires.

Subsection 21(1) of the Act states that a foreign national becomes a permanent resident if an officer is
satisfied that the foreign national has applied for that status, has met the obligations set out in
paragraph 20(1)(a) and subsection 20(2) and is not inadmissible.
In preparation for the processing your application, we require additional documents/information to
assess your eligibility and admissibility to Canada.

In order to avoid delays in the processing of your application you must only send one submission in
response to this request. That submission should contain all requested documents. Alternatively, if
you are unable to provide any or all of the requested documents/information, please explain why they
are not available, in the same submission where you submit all of the documents that you have
prepared/that were requested.
If you have not yet submitted the following documents, you must submit them to this office:

Police Certificate(s)
The principal applicant (and all family members 18 years or older) is required to submit a police
certificate(s) from the:

• The country where you have spent most of your adult life since the age of 18;

For instructions on how to obtain the correct police certificate required, you must visit
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp
If you have already submitted police certificates as noted above please disregard. If you are unable to
comply please forward a written explanation."

Good Evening

I got the exact same email and am wondering if it's an error or I missed something.

I 100% included my UK police certificate with my PR application (original). I sent in the app almost exactly 6 months ago to the day which makes me wonder if it's an automated email by mistake.

BUT

my son is in the UK and NOT coming here to stay and was not part of the application. I did mention this and him in my application. Do I need to send a police certificate for him too? Surely not. He is 21, 22 in August

Any help appreciated.

Doug

A great many folks here got the same message today. It appears to be a batch email to make sure that anyone with outstanding PCC submit them.

If you're sure it was submitted, and the PCC was issued after you left the country, you can:
- ignore the request. Typically they have the specific country listed;
- scan and resubmit the PCC with a note stating you'd already submitted;
Or
- fetch a brand new PCC and submit that. This illustrates compliance. This is the best option, if possible.

Do I send it to the address stated or is it possible to email?

Thanks'

Doug

If he is not accompanying, then no. They can use intelligence channels to evaluate his criminality...

Thanks for your replies and all your advice.

I am sure that I submitted PCC together with application package :)

I got the same letter
talked to cic agent who mentioned its a reminder email ONLY before they start processing the file, so if you have submitted the PCC no action needed at this point of time

Awesome! I am thinking of sending them explanation letter together with copy of my PCC - just in case.

Hi,
We got same letter today asking for my wife Police Certificate, it was submitted a month ago. It is confusing, right?
we are June 2016 Applicant.
Good luck all.

It sure is. On one hand if you are sure you sent them PCC you shouldn`t have to reply to this e-mail at all. However I have copy of my PCC and it`s translation. I will send it to them "just in case" :D

Best of luck guys!

It said right on the letter if you have not YET submitted e following documents you must submit them. Then it says at the bottom if you have already submitted police certificates as noted above please disregard i

So no need to resend police certificates.

Do the police certificates sent in need to be orifginals? Or can we send photocopy? Hate the thought of sendng the original as it wasnt an easy process to get it, What if they lose it or I need it again lol

Hi all,

When sending in these police checks, do you electronically upload them to mycic or do you physically mail them in to the visa office?

Thanks!
