Good day Folks,

Just a quick question. Does the job duties in my experience letter have to be similar to the job duties stated in NOC code ( I know not word to word similar but mostly similar). Because I've seen people facing rejection for the job duties not matching.

Actually there are some duties in NOC code which I am not assigned to. So if add them or don't, I'll be suffering in both cases. Please advise.

This question might be posted on some other threads as well but wasn't able to search it.
Thanks in advance.

The job duties are the most important part of your experience letter.

The list of job duties mentioned in your experience letter must cover at least 60% (preferably at least 75%) of the duties listed for the NOC.

Actually I am still a little confused with how can i fuse together the duties given in NOC and the duties that I do and cover up 60% (preferably 75%) of it.

Could anyone please provide me an example or something? Would really appreciate it.

Sit with your employer/supervisor and prepare a draft of your duties. Then use the words from the main NOC job description from HRSDC and ensure you cover atleast 60-80% of duties. You should be good to go!

If the duties that you do in your job don't cover at least 60% of those of the NOC, then you don't meet the requirements of the NOC.

I got another problem. I am employed as an Administrative Coordinator 1221 (that's what show on my pay stubs) and the same NOC code also applies

for Administrative Officer. Basically, both the jobs are 1221. But I don't see job duties specially given under Administrative Coordinator. Do I have to go

with the job duties of an Administrative Officer. Please advise.

All those job titles have the same basic job duties because they're the same NOC, I think. So you won't find a specific list of duties for your specific job title.
The job title doesn't actually matter, so if your duties match those of the NOC, use them.

Actually, most of my job duties match with NOC code 1241 -Administrative assistant. But I am employed as an Administrative Coordinator 1221 in my company (shows on my paystubs as well). Which one should i go with?

Would it be fine if I put myself in the 1221 job code and use the duties of 1241? Please advise.

Forget about the job title; go with the NOC that best matches your duties.

Thank you for your quick response istari. But are you sure that it wouldn't be a problem if CIC realized that I am appointed by my company as an Administrative Coordinator 1221 but doing the duties of an Administrative assistant 1241?

As I've said, what matters is the job duties.

Is there some difference between these 2 job titles or NOCs that you think would make your case exceptional ? If so, please explain.

Thank you istari,

Actually the only thing that I am worried about is that my position Admin Coordinator is visible on my paystubs.

So i guess if i go by this position but state the duties of Admin Assistant. Wouldn't it be a clear rejection?

And if go by the Admin Assistant, both code and job duties. The CIC will catch it as soon as they see Admin Coordinator written on my pay stubs.

Of course both these NOC's do have some differences in the duties performed which is why they are categorized in separate codes.
Please advise istari
