query regarding study gap

Hi all, I am new to this forum, though I have read much of the posts. I just want to know about my visa success. i am going to apply for a spp college very soon and subsequently for visa. I have this understanding that Canada is very particular about the study gap. I had my +2 (high school) completed in the year 2005. Then I had done B.Tech in mechanical(2006-2010) . In between I had one year gap 2005 to 2006.

1) Do I have to show a document or something like being preparing for Engg. entrance exam in the student questionnaire form OR it would be okay to just write something else there. ( self study, etc)
2) Supposing I satisfy every other requirement, what are my chances of getting the visa.
I had done pretty well in IELTS getting 7.5 bands

Just mention in the column "preparing for Engg." like.

hope we are in the same boat.

I finished my 12th on 2000 and had an improvement exam again on 2001 to enter Engineering. They will ask about your studies from your 18th age. (this is what I have filled up in the visa application form).

ps: I got my visa. Hope my case will help u have a better hope.

so what it means that you had not attached any documents regarding gap year,nevertheless it couldn't have been needed if you had some documents like work experience or study after 2005 , the year you complted your engg.

So, should I use a certificate from a college teacher that I had been under his/her guidance during the said period. Would the visa officer would value that , OR there is no need to show the same and only write "preparing for engg."

if your documents for that one year gap is original and valid, then provide and mention what is the title in ur certificate. or else just mention 'preparing for engg' like.

your choice finally. They are looking only limited docs and If you attach more, It may have bad impact. This is my opinion about your situation. You are the only going to manage everything; so stick on your decision.


ps: don't let them think that is a fake document.

Hello guys,(Urgent)


I am new to this forum and have read all the postings from the very beginning. However, there seems to be nobody applying from London. This is my case: I’m Nigerian living in the UK. I did my Master’s in the UK and presently work as a research assistant.

I recently received an admission offer for a Master’s degree leading to a PhD, from a Canadian institution with funding that enough to cover my living expenses and tuition.

My questions are:

a) Would the letter of funding on its own suffice for the visa application process, or I still need to include some statement of account?
b) What implication would the funding have on my application?
c) Could anybody with the London application experience comment, please.

I would very much appreciate your swift responses.
