PLS HELP

The eligibility for Category based is to have at least 6 months of continuous work experience in the past 3 years.

1 - The last work experience that I have submitted in my ee profile is from July 2019 to Nov 2021. while creating EE profile, they don't ask for the specific dates you worked (from - to), only months are entered, can someone clarify how they calculate the past 3 years? the month my last experience ended is Nov 2021. As per this experience, my eligibility (6 months continuous in the past 3 years) is valid till before 31st May or 1st May 2024? (Considering I get ITA and submit the application before 31st/1st of may 2024) or what? I am so confused.

2 - Also continuous work means at least 30 hours per week, right? That would be 30 hours per week for 6 months = continuous work for 6 months?

Help please!!!

I’m wondering where you got the 6 months work experience in the last 3 years from? Care to share the link.

Work experience for the category based is the same as the general eligibility for the EE itself. It must be at least 1 year of continuous work or 1,560 hours total (30 hours per week)

Select Categories and you can see eligibility requirements for each one of them.

Thanks for sharing that. The experience timeframe will be 3 years from whenever you are creating your EE profile (and most importantly when you are submitting your PR application).
So if you want to apply in May 2024, you need to prove you have at least 6 months experience from May 2021 to May 2024. (It’s the whole of May).

2. Correct

That doesn't seem to be the case, I read this on the official website;

"To qualify in an occupation-based category, applicants must have accumulated, over a continuous period, at least six months of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work within the three-year period preceding the time the ITA was sent and at the time the e-APR was received in one of the occupations indicated in the specific ministerial instructions respecting invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system for their round."

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/express-entry/assessing-electronic-application-on-section-a11-2.html#lang

The creation date of EE profile has nothing to do with this. It's about the work experience you have mentioned in your profile. You can also read the Ministerial Instructions for each draw. My only confusion is how they calculate the past 3 years for the eligibility criteria for category-based draws.

By the time you apply… you must have work experience of 6 months within the last 3 years….. you indicated you want to apply in May 2024, correct? So your work experience should be within 3 years of May 2024. The date you create your EE profile, you must meet the requirement. And also the date you officially submit the application you must also meet the requirement.

I don’t know where the confusion is. If you are creating EE today…. You are taking into consideration work experience between December 2020 to December 2023

I get your point but there has been a misunderstanding, I have an EE profile I am in the pool but have not received an ITA yet, and the last work experience in my EE profile is from July 2019 to Nov 2021. To apply I need to have an ITA, so my question was that how long I can wait for an ITA for category-based, considering that the eligibility remains valid (6 months continuous work in past 3 years). So basically I think I am eligible for an ITA in category-based till May 2024 (to be precise till before the 1st of May)

You have answered your own question. What’s your score and which category?

CRS 478 and my NOC falls in Healthcare category, I hope next Healthcare draw happens soon.
When did you get into the pool? Unfortunately there were 3 draws in no specific pattern, so hard to predict the next one.
October 26 - 431 points
July 6 - 463 points
June 28 - 476 points

I would say probably January - March 2024. I suggest you get all supporting docs ready and apply as soon as you get ITA. With a score of 478 it will be hard to get ITA without the help of a category based draw or PNP.
Good luck!

Hi
Based on this statement, "To qualify in an occupation-based category, applicants must have accumulated, over a continuous period, at least six months of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time work within the three-year period preceding the time the ITA was sent and at the time the e-APR was received in one of the occupations indicated in the specific ministerial instructions respecting invitations to apply for permanent residence under the Express Entry system for their round."

Can someone help me understand if I qualify for this with part time work for 1 year?

I have been working for 20 hours/week since June 2023. So can I apply for healthcare based draw?

Thank you for your immediate response. Are you sure? Because my profile has been ineligible two times before due to this.

I had applied in the month of March and April.

You should be eligible. If your profile is ineligible, then it may very well be for other reasons.

Are you sure you've answered all questions correctly? What are you showing as your primary NOC?

I assume you meet the requirements of either the FSW or CEC program. Do you?
