Call the teaching centre.
Usually there is a date for evaluation. You have to appear on that day for joining that semester.Sometimes this may be waived if the institution has readily available seats after the semester has begin.

There isn't anything specific on the site, but from what I remember you have to apply 30 days prior.

It is hard to answer your question. They put together a list of students. Then when the class is full they put names on a waiting list. After they call up people as places free up.

Yes, I do. It all depends on what your situation is. Call the MICC to get more information.

I just finished my application today, and I'm hoping that I'll get in for August. We will see.

What if you are landing in Ontario first date but may settle in Quebec later? I had highschool french so not enough to function in a Quebec job. But it is closer to family and we'd like to return. Can I take the French then with the Governments assistance?

My understanding from the information available online is that you can still qualify for the MICC courses if you have been living in Canada for five years or less, regardless of whether you lived in ON before moving to QC. Admission

You are eligible to take French courses if you:

have been living in Canada for five years or less
live in Québec
lack sufficient knowledge of French for everyday life or work
are 16 years of age or older
have an immigration status that allows you to take courses.
Following your admission, an evaluation of your French proficiency may be required.

You will meet an evaluator from the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC). He will establish the level at which you will begin the language classes.

ah, yes. I have highschool french from 10 yrs ago. Certainly not enough to work. That's partially why we are leaving. My fiance stacks rocks because HE doesn't.

My girlfriend and I were in Montreal last year, she's from MTL and I landed last year as a PR but we had to comeback to the states earlier this year due to her school and my employer. Now that my work contract has ended we plan to go back to MTL in June and since I'll have free time I really want to take up the French courses offer by MICC.
