Hi all,

I thinking of applying for a QSW category from london. I have degree in Bachelors for four years in Electronic Engineering and a Master Degree from UK in Communication systems engineering and my age is 25 yrs. Am i eligible to apply for QSW category and I will however, Keep preparing for learing French, is it compulsory to have a test for it or my application can be considered based on my qualification and age. How if I seek a lawyers advice, would it work if he can help me in my application. Please Advice.

hi !

since all your profile info is not provided, its best to get an evaluation done.

http://www.form.services.micc.gouv.qc.ca/epi/index.jsp?languageCode=en
>> start here.
>> read all the info on the site. prepare well, keep coming back here for queries/doubts.

>> no need of going thru a lawyer. you can do it yourself and save a lot of money.
>> it is better to get yourself a french test score and then apply.

i have done education for over 17 years in English standard and my highest degree is in Master in Communications systems Engineering(UK) done after my Bachelors in Electronics and communication engineering.
My age - 25 years.
Is is possible to apply on the basis of above two major criterias.

And, while my application is in process i can prepare my French language learning.
However, I have done my IELTS over 3 yrs before with 6.0 bands. But, it has been advised to me to apply for QSW on the basis of my degree and my age which fall very good to be considered enough for this worker category.

Please advice me, may i apply on these basis and keep preparing on the other hand during the process.
And, although i have done assessment, but the assessment is not very clear to understand for me to fill it in.

Furthermore, how much time does it take to get selected by the quebec province when you first send the application of certificate of selection to them?.

Finally, I am taking a quebec's lawyers help bcz they can advice better then anyone, although they charge, but i want to get the job done. Shall i proceed, please your advice is necessary...thanks

its nt that only age n experience counts, every factor has its own points. and you have to perfrom ur points calculation before applying. as vibez suggested, go through the assessment again, and if you have any confusion in understanding that, ask in this forum. we are here to help. procesing times vary from country to country.

and Finally when you have decided to hire a lawyer, then why are you so confused? as vibez said, we all did our app without lawyer, and taking help from friends on this forum. but if you are comfortable in doing it with the help of lawyer, go for it man!

I dont understand the following in the self assessment test for qualifying.
About work experience- my work experience as Production operator in a contact lens company, i dont know which category do i have to choose in the list, as my education is diffrent - which is in Electronics and Communication Engg. So i dont know which category of experience in the list do i have to choose.
And, is it compulsory to submit lang test score both for English and French or is it enough to prepare on own and get ready for interview.

Finally, I am in London for next 9 month and it has been said that process will take about 8 to 10 months. what should i do with that, go from here and come back on a visit visa for interview. but anyways i dont want to transfer my file to homecountry as i have heard that it will take several months. Please advice on this as well.

And would you suggest me to apply on the basis of Master degree from UK university and Age (25), do you think its good enough to apply for QSW through a lawyer(as he suggested me to go for it). Your recommendation is much appreciated. thanks.

if my understanding is correct, then you dont have a choice of a visa office. your VO is decided by the place you reside. If you have been staying in another country for more than a year, then your VO is will be the one which services that country. if not, then its the VO applicable for home country.

CSQ is as the name goes, a selection certificate. you get points for a lot of factors and this decides your eligibility. whether you apply on ur own or thru lawyer, its the same set of criteria for which you will be evaluated against. hope i read you right.

whatever you claim must be backed up with proof. if you say you were born on 30th Feb, show proof for that. if you say you have an MS degree, show the certificate. if you claim points for marriage, show the marriage certificate, if you claim points for kids, show their birth certificate.

likewise, if you say you speak excellent english - proof: IELTS / TOEFL / Employer letter etc.
vous parle français ? très bien ! certificat (DELF/DALF/TCF/TEFAQ) s'il vous plait !! its as simple as that.

and submitting language scores with the app make processing quicker* and simpler. and you may get thru without an interview even*.

hope this helps. all the very best goodie ! :)

Thanks vibez_well, that really helped.

Does Proof of funds carry the points as well or not?.

And, I've been in england for last three years so definetely the my VO is london, but i may have to leave in OCT this year which does not complete my 10 of duration which is actually needed for processing. I may stay here longer if there is a chance of it, but i leave would it be a problem for my application, I can however come back on a visit visa to London from my home country.

And, one more thing is, i dont have a language score, i can however get a letter from my employer about my English. but i dont have any document as a proof to show my fluency in French, I am planning to learn during the process... would it be safe for my application.

Furthermore, I am only applying on the base of my Master degree from UK, and my Age, which is advised to be good enough for QSW category. WOULD YOU RECOMMEND? Please advice...thanks very much.

yes, it carries 1 point. its basically a form which u hv to sign, stating that when u land, you will have enough funds. you dont have to show it upfront.

language score : you can get letters from your employer & college that you used the lang for work and the courses were taught in english.

I think you would have enough points to make the cut. go ahead dude. 8)

Thank you very very much vibez_well, that information give me more confidence to apply,

Please can you further help me with giving the points criteria based on different factors like, which factor carries how much points for eg; Proof of funds - 1 point etc and what about others. Please advice.

And, by the way, when interview is done for QSW category, which language would it be in English/French.

And, does QSW is allowed to live and work anywhere in Canada or just live and work in Quebec?.

CAN YOU PLEASE EXPLAIN ME THE PROCESS FOR APPLYING FOR QSW, IT IS STILL NOT CLEAR TO ME AS I HAVE VISITED MULTIPLE WEBSITES, BUT VERY CONFUSED. I AM IN LONDON AND I HAVE SEEN ON WWW.CIC.GC.CA THAT IT TAKES 10 MONTHS OF TIME....IS IT A TIME ONLY TO GET CSQ OR GET OVERLL PROCESS.

AND, WHAT DIFFERENT FRENCH EXAMS ARE CONSIDERED FOR APPLICATION OTHER THAN "TEF"...IS THERE ANY EASIER ONE FOR BEGINNER.

Thanks

here is the points distribution for QSW: http://www.canadavisa.com/quebec-skilled-worker-immigration.html

interview could be in french, could be in english and could be mixture of both.

you can live and work anywhere in canada.

for complete process and supporting documnets, go to the link: http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/reach/adresses-countries.html. then click on your country of residence, it will open a new window, which will specify all the requirements of your visa office. fill in the forms, attach the supporting docs and fees and sent it to your visa office.

Thanks for pitching in Angeleye !

overall time..... by the looks of it, seems 10 months is just to get the csq these days.
french exams - there are some others like DELF. TEF is like IELTS, you write a common exam and the score you get determines your proficiency in the language.

DELF is for different levels... you can take A1/A2/B1/B2/C1/C2 and D is awarded when you die speaking french ! ;)

this should be a little easier for beginners as the degree of difficulty goes up according to the levels being tested. so if you take up a basic french course, passing A1 should be a walk in Le Parc !!

Thanks for posting your replies guys, thats very helpful - i really appreciate it.

so the A1 certificate of DELF should be the good enough to get through ease in process.

And, as it takes 10 months to get CSQ from London how much is the time taken after that to get permenant residence or QSW permit.

Finally, I am not a much literate enough in French, so if i apply now for QSW and keep learning french during process, do you think its a good idea to save time and use it for processing.
