A quick question: Does the spouse have to link the application to the GCKey account? or is it just for the main applicant?

*I suspect that, yes, it's just for the main applicant but want to confirm

Also, a kind of strange thing happened.
We received medical exam acceptance on Dec 10, but yesterday, the line with the medical exam info updated to just empty space ( https://ibb.co/Fwg0PJx ) o_O, before that it was saying that medical is accepted on Dec 11.
Is it normal?

Hello everybody,

I am waiting for the final decision from IRCC about my application through the path of Quebec Skilled Workers. Online application on July 5th.

I maintained my status in Canada by requesting to change my status from a PGWP holder to a closed work permit with my actual job. I did this 1 month (Aug. 4th) before the PGWP expired.

Last night I got a letter of refusal on my application for the closed work permit saying that I don't meet the requirements for this kind of work permit and that I was immediately losing my legal status in Canada. I stopped working as of today.

Have someone experienced something similar in your process?

I plan to restore my status and apply to the BOWP, but I am not sure how long it would take and if this will affect my PR process.

On the other hand, today I got an update in PR application saying that they are reviewing the extra documents they got (police certificate from Mex.)...

There is no way you can apply for a closed work permit unless it is an LMIA-exempt employer-specific closed work permit. You should have applied before your PGWP expired.

I am not sure how you can restore your status now. When did your PGWP expire? May be consult IRCC website/ call the IRCC.

Could you provide additional information ? Was it A73 LMIA expempt work permit you've applied to? And can you explain more regarding how is it you don't meet requirements ?

You can apply for BOWP but you will not be able to start working again until it's approved (or you become PR, whichever comes sooner). Also, I suggest consulting with a lawyer, sometimes IRCC might actually ask you to leave Canada if you are out of status to proceed with your PR application.

I think it is normal, most people here I see wait around at least month to get their medical invite. I did my biometrics the 28th of november and am also still waiting for further steps.

Hello,

I applied for a closed work permit based on an LMIA exemption due to CUSMA, and I applied 1 month before my PGWP expired. My PGWP expired on Sept 6th.

I had a meeting today and I will have another tomorrow with a consultant. I'll try to call IRCC as well... My main worry is that this rejection will affect my PR process, according to the consultant, it shouldn't but still waiting for some legal advice.

Thanks!

Hello,

Now I am not sure if I applied through A73 LMIA exempt work permit... I am not really aware of this terminology.

This is what the letter says:

Persons wishing to obtain or extend a work permit in Canada must satisfy an Officer that they:
• have complied with all conditions imposed on their entry;
• will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay;
• are not in a category of persons inadmissible to Canada under the Immigration and
Refugee Protection Act; and
• are able to perform the duties and otherwise meet the requirements of the job.
Based on careful review of the information and documentation supporting your application, I am
not satisfied that you meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and
Regulations.

Any idea?
