I've been trying to search for advice on the Quebec portion of immigration. I know the CIC part back and forth but am a little foggy on the MICC and CSQ stuff. Can someone give me a brief summary?
And what is the timeline for sending the paperwork in? Do we send the paperwork to MICC at the same time as CIC or wait til CIC approves sponsorship and THEN send in paperwork or would that delay anything?
I remember reading something that said when CIC approves sponsorship (with an email) that you'll forward that to MICC.

About me: American citizen married to Candian citizen living in Quebec. Applying Outland. Currently gathering paperwork/evidence/making doctor appointment, etc

You can send the CSQ application only after you've been approved for sponsorship by CIC.

So basically, you first submit your sponsorship application together with the permanent residence application to CIC. Once your sponsorship has been approved, there will be instructions in the letter to submit your CSQ application forward to MICC. That's in the nutshell!

Ok, thank you so much! I thought it was this way, but being on the forums and researching, sometimes things get scrambled in my head and I get re-confused. hahah!! :)

Been living in Montreal for over two years now and my IEC visa is expiring in just under two weeks. My application for outland sponsorship through the London Visa Office was received in Mississauga on the 13th of January. In that time I've had sponsorship approval and I've managed to get my CSQ sent off to the London office.

Around 11 days ago I got an email from the London Visa Office asking for additional proof of cohabitation. I don't know whether this is a very bad sign as it will end up delaying my application or whether its actually very positive as it means they've starting processing my application and that things are moving in the right direction. Would any of you be able to shed some light on this?

I've been a passive observer of this thread for a while and there's been some excellent and very helpful advice on it. Thanks guys.

Wondering if Quebec is not slower compared to other provinces. timeline on average, from what I notice, seems to be a bit longer. What do you guys think?

As long as you get your CSQ within 4 - 6 weeks I can't see how it would delay processing. Otherwise the application process at outland VO's is identical, the CSQ is just another document that is required for the application, and I'm sure they have barely even started processing an application during that timeframe. The only thing that I would think that would slow things down is you really take a long time getting the CSQ sorted out.

This is all purely speculation though.

Okay...I guess I have looked at a few timelines on here and was misled. Are there any montreal spreadsheets out there?

The one for the January 2014 thread has a few people applying for Quebec, and they have a column for people who got CSQ's so you can easily see, however its still early days for the January applicants, hopefully some COPR's in the summer months though.

I think rather than whether applicants apply through Quebec or the Federal route, I think the overseas visa office that is used will have a much more significant impact on the length of processing times. See the link below and you'll understand what I mean.

The hold-up is your respective Visa Office... We got our CSQ in a very timely fashion (4 weeks) over around the Xmas period. Maybe MICC was in a festive mood. :)

Here's our timeline through Sydney, AU Visa Office.

Type: Spousal (Outland)
Visa Office: Sydney (Australia)

Medical Done - Submitted with CIC Application
Police Check Done - Submitted with CIC Application

2013/10/22 - CIC Application Received [Courier Date]
2013/11/06 - CIC Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) [Email Date] [2 weeks]
2013/11/07 - CIC Transfer to Visa Office (Sydney, Australia) [1 day]
2013/11/13 - CIC Letter to proceed with MICC [Snail mail Date] [1 week]
2013/11/20 - MICC Application Received [Courier Date] [1 week]
2013/11/27 - MICC Charged Credit Card [1 week]
2013/12/10 - MICC CSQ Received and Approved. Emailed a copy to Sydney Visa Office, as requested. [Snail mail Date] [2 weeks]
2013/12/23 - CIC Requests Confirmation of Passport Details [2 weeks]
2014/01/07 - Emailed Sydney Visa Office to Confirm Passport Details [2 weeks]
2014/01/23 - CIC Confirmation of Permanent Residence Received [4 weeks]
2014/01/24 - Landed [1 day]

My Visa Office's forum had people landing faster than my 95 days and also had people still deep in the process, so your actual timeline will be specific to your case. In fact, some people are spending more time waiting for their PR card than the landing process itself! :)

G'luck...

Hello,

My wife's (quebec outland) sponsorship application is being processed in Singapore. The CIC website indicates decision made (as of may 23) and that she will be notified of the decision by mail. We are hoping this means she will get her passport with her visa soon.

My question is regarding the csq which was granted to my wife. Does she need to send the CSQ to singapore (she never sent it to singapore as they never requested). I guess she needs to present the CSQ when she comes to Canada. I am assuming there is no need to send he CSQ to Singapore at this point.

My other question was regarding landing in Canada. Is she obligated to land in Montreal. She can't land outside Quebec the first time she comes to Canada for example?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Hi!
So, ill be kind of clear in this. cuz is something a lot of people ask.
ITS KNOWN THAT MICC IS SUPPOSED TO SEND A COPY OF YOUR CSQ DIRECTLY TO CANADA.
BUT! in the letter that CIC sent you requesting CSQ, they SAID to MAIL them the one that says 'immigration" in the bottom.

When you received csq from quebec, you get 2 copies. One says "immigration" and another one says "requerant"

the one that says IMMIGRATION you MUST send it to CIC... as simple as that.
WHY? If MICC is supposed to comunicate with CIC?
Simple. CUZ YOU WERE REQUIRE TO SEND ONE AS WELL. CUZ YOU DONT WANT DELAYS IN YOUR PROCESS. WHAT IF MICC FORGOT TO SENT YOUR CSQ? OR IF IT GOT LOST IN THE MAIL BETWEEN CIC AND MICC? OR IF THE AGENT IS TOO LAZY TO MATCH IT TO YOUR FILE IN TIME?

Better be safe, you know?
Dont think about it too much. you get 2 copies, keep the one that says requerant and the one that says immigration well.. SEND IT TO IMMIGRATION! :)

GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS
