Quebec Immigration-New applicant

Hi Everyone,

I am an international student living in the U.S, i did my b.sc and il finish my m.sc in 2010. I am applying for the quebec PR and i wanted to know if i need to take the ielts.

My french is between a beginner and intermediate, and i wanted to know if i should take the tcf or tef tests, if so is there one that u recommend, the easier one?

My husband also does not live with me, he is working back home and im studying here, i wanted to know if that my be a problem when submitting the application, although im the primary applicant. Do we also have to submit a letter from his current employer as well as the 1st and last paystubs?

First welcome to this forum.

It would be helpful if you could mention where you are originally from. Although I am not sure, I believe one has to file the CSQ application in the country of citizenship and only exceptionally in the country of permanent residence. I could be wrong though.

As for your languges, it is definitely a huge asset to provide tests such as the IELTS for English or the tcf, tef or even DELF / DALF (common in Europe). Especially when your French is not that great you should try to improve it or at least show a decent level (i.e. intermediate) on a test score. Your interview will likely be fully (or to a large part) in French.

As for your husband, you will need to specify him on your application as well. I am not sure whether it has any influence if he does not apply. It might seem a little strange though if you apply without him, but thats just a guess out of the blue. Or do you want to mention him as spouse accompanying you? Then I would submit as much information as possible concerning his work experience, wealth, etc. Although it is not formally required to provide proof of funds, it can definitely not hurt.

you can apply for CSQ from any country! it doens't matter if you are permanent resident or student.all one has to do is to provide them with the status in the country you reside and proof.
if you are not from a french speaking country you have to provide a french test score.
....if you would like to move to canada with your husband at the same time then:
-you are going to be the main applicant and he would have to file the partner's one (spouse or de facto spouse)
....if you are not moving with him,it's going to b just you (principal applicant) but you will have to let them know he exists in your life .

you don't have to take a french test or English for Quebec immigration.. they will evaluate your French and English ability during the interview... correct me seniors if i am wrong.

I am from nigeria, but i have lived here in the U.S for the past 7yrs, and i think il just take the french test because otherwise i have nothing else to prove to them that i know french.

The ielts, I wont take because my high school diploma was the IGCSE/GCSE and to get into an american university you have to take the toefl exam, so that shouldnt apply to me.

I will apply with my husband, but I will be the primary applicant,although we both qualify for the occupations they are looking for and we have completed everything for the application,except I cant get an earlier date for the french test, which is late october,
