Shahi,

Depending on how much money we're talking about but I think travelers checks would be fine.

If its the basic mininimum for proof of funds I would just carry cash I guess.

Btw, do you already have a place to stay in Montreal or are you staying in a hotel the first days until you find something?

I am trying to go back to Montreal coz my work permit is valid till october but I'm having a hard time getting a place to stay from overseas.

shahi, i think the best way to prove your funds, is to carry them with you...unless they are more than 10000$CAD...you must report to the customs how much you have money...otherwise, you'll be accused by Money laundering which sure that will disturb the joy of landing on the promise land :P

I applied for Quebec CSQ in January 2010 and received a letter from Quebec dated Feb 4, 2010. I live in USA and applied from USA. The current interview month for USA is April 2010 but I have not received any interview letter so far. I applied through an attorney in Quebec. In January of this year, I was asked to send copies of W2's since I started working in USA. I checked with my attorney and they said there was no further communication from Quebec Immigration after the W2's were sent to them.

Can anyone share their experience here in what could be the delay and why I was not called for an interview even though my letter was date Feb 4, 2010?the letter u got is the AOR. the issuance of AOR does not imply that work had begun on ones file. it only shows that ones file has been officially accepted. a standard check for priority will b carried out at this stage and any file which qualifies for priority will b immediately brought forward to and officers desk for review this might take 1-2months. while files that does not qualify are returned back to the queue. so if ur file is still awaiting a review (which will determine whether an interview will b necessary for you or not) as at the time April 2010, there is no way u could have been called. i think u u can send them an enquiry of ur status update using ur file and dossier number. the wait is just too much. u might need to take ur destiny in ur hands cos most of these attorneys are only after who their next client and as such they tend to lose interest in files that are taking too long to conclude.

@shahi - Travellers cheque is the best option, for financial proof of funds. I travel a lot, so most of the Customs are happy to see travellers cheque for individuals.

There is new option of Pre-charge Dollar cards from CIti bank, This is only for Travellers across different currencies, not for people settling in canada.

Take the Travellers cheque if it is more than 500 USD.

Shahi,

I would go with traveller's checks although I'm going to carry cash because I will be only taking the minimum $2800 for proof of funds.

It is not difficult to find an apartment in Montreal once you get there but like myself I dont have any family there so I have to search from my home country and thats a little bit more difficult.

Hello to all of you.
I am new in this forum and as far as I have read till now I am so surprised how u people support and help each other with information.

We (me and my husband ) have applied for the CSW and got the CSQ on 08.11.2010. We sent the federal application forms and the CSQ as well on 09.12.2010 to the Visa Office in Rome and we have not yet received any notification of the opening of the application. Does anyone know how much does it last for the federal application?

Thank u in advance.

@ Geribubaboy

I think you have to wait 3 or 4 month till you get your PR Visa. All experiences that i have heard in Albania are 3 to 4 months, but sometimes it gets more than that. It depends from the number of applicants from our country and the accuracy of the documents that you have sent. Don't worry, in my opinion you will get an answer this Month.

Take care.....

Lirjan,

How have you been? Have you heard anything from Vienna?

If it is just for 3 or 4 month until my PR visa u made me happy because I would be very glad to have the chance to get to Montreal in Oct-Nov. 2011.
I also read that u are waiting for the CSQ and I wish u luck and in my opinion U will get that very soon.
