Guys I have a couple more questions regarding work experience and do not know if anyone would be able to help but here goes:

4.5 years ago, I worked as an intern while doing my Bachelors. Being an international student, I have the original documents from my school (I-20) which shows the's school's approval for me to work as an intern for the company as part of my Curricular Practical Training. The document also states the name of the company I was interning with and the period of the internship. I also have my tax forms as well as academic transcripts that show my enrollment for internship credit. Now the problem arises with my reference letter! I do not have a work certificate and the boss I reported too has moved to another company. I might be able to somehow track him down, but even if I do, the reference letter would obviously not be on the letterhead of the company I interned with. What do I do? Given all the supporting proof I have that I really interned at the company, should I also submit a reference letter?

The next question I have is a bit more complicated....after I graduated, having no knowledge of how consultants operate, I was one that got caught in their trap! in my case ignorance was not bliss! Being an international student, I was legally allowed 12 months of legal status to work with any company after graduation. I was hired by a consulting company a month after I graduated and they told me I would be placed in a couple of weeks after they trained me. I took the bait and unfortunately that did not happen. They also applied for my job visa which got approved and was active to use 9-10 months after I joined them. Any how, they were not able to find a placement for me for more than 6 months after which they finally got me a job placement. Once I completed this first project, I asked my boss at the client to give me a reference letter. I have this reference letter and it states my duties, job title, dates of employment all on a company letterhead, dated and signed. After completing this first project, I left the consulting company. The question I have is, what do I put down as my work experience? - If I include the time right from when I was hired by the consulting company, that would include 6+ months of me just waiting around for a job when I did not work even though I was hired for work and told I would be placed in a project in a couple of weeks during which I would be trained.....I only started really started working when they placed me at the client location after several months. I also have all my pay stubs right from the beginning of my project placement till the end as well as my tax forms.
Again, my question is, how do I report this work experience when filling my application? Do I put my dates of employment with this company as the start date of the first project they placed me in or do I state it as beginning from the actual date that they hired me to work?
As I mentioned, I have a reference letter from the boss at the client site...do I submit this with my application? or do I only ask the consulting company for a reference letter and submit only that?

I always wished I would have never gotten into this mess....most small consulting companies take people for a ride...especially those that do not know how they operate! it is a disgrace!

Please please help!

do you mean using evaluation agencies like this http://www.wes.org/ca/ ?

These agencies just convert your education as per CA standards and give it to you..yes, it might be helpful but 350$ for that is little expensive...do some more research before you pay the money

Yes, this is the one I found too. Actually, I'm applying from US too and I thought we could send the form to the local Canada immigration office but thankfully now I know that we need to swnd it to this montreal address.

shahi, I just took a look at that link. I don't think it makes sense to go in for this..As egrace has mentioned, this problem arises only for regulated occupations.

I am not the primary applicant and thankfully my spouse does not have complicated work scenarios like I experienced!

I will mention the actual dates of employment during which I was actually working with proof of pay stubs and a copy of my contract with the client, reference letter stating dates of employment, duties etc.

For submitting copies of originals like copies of visas etc, do you know if we have to get it notarized to authenticate the copies?

I don't think the visa copies need to be notarized but your educational docuemnts have to be notarized unless you are sending your original transcript in selaed envelope. In that case, that's an orignal document and so you would not need notarization.

I have some questions here. Can anyone help me here?

1. For applicants who are applying with their spouse, do we send the spouse's documents also in the same application package?

2.How to arrange for the application fee? Do banks issue Canadian dollar moneyorders/cheques?

3. I have my transcripts in a signed and sealed envelope and this is what I will be sending with the application.Do I need to send marksheets too in this case?

4. Do we need paystubs for past jobs?

5. I took the TOEFL iBT test for admission to US universities. Can I use this same result or do I need IELTS? If I send a copy of this TOEFL report, then do I notarize this result?

6. Financial forms - how much finances do we show in the bank forms? Should it be significantly higher than what they ask for?

any idea how long the AOR takes if I send my application to the montreal office? any one has experience with this?

7. Does the CV need to be a canada-specific resume format?

These are my opinion (1) having an equivalency certificate does not av a major part in securing a job. Some employers may request though. Hence what i will do is come along with my academic transcript to quebec & wait till a prospective employer demand for it. Note only equivalence done in Quebec is acceptable. (2)when a profession is regulatd, then no need for equivalency cos part of d accreditatn process verifies all course content in transcript. (3) as PR Immigrants, one of our valuable job hunting tools will b d possession of Canadian experience. and this might necessitate taking jobs below what we presently do but i think that if we all can go 2ru all d rigours and make it to Quebec, then their's a FIRM hope that we will be back in place in no time. So as we await our: eventual landing, MR, CSQ interview/ issuance, lets not 4get to av contigency measures in place so as not 2b caught unawares..... We all will get to live-in, enjoy and experience our dream

All these wil b sent as a single package (2) yeah u can cut a draft in $CAD 4rm a bank. (3) No need for marksheet if submiting a transcript and vice versa. (4) only pay stub 4 your most recent job is Ok, and ensure d documentatn for other job's available. (5) if ur Toefl score will not b enough for u to secure all d 6points attachd to English Proficiency, then i suggest u get a letter 4rm ur institutn dat u av had ur tertiary Educatn in english . (6) u do not need bank statement. Just fill and sign off d financial self sufficiency form. (7) ur CV Can take any format u so desired. Just ensure it gives a complete summary of you.

@ shootingstar, (1) No, what i mean is that both of u wil fill a form each i.e two forms then both of u wil fill the spousal declaration for each other. Bcos, the educatn, language skills etc of Spouses too will need b assessed all of which are not captured on d spousal declaratn form. (2) yeah, only transcript is enough . (3) well. U will need provide documentatn for all d jobs u wish to acknowledge in ur form.
